The large table held a team full of people, multiple plates and glass with a verity of liquid covered the table. Conversations and laughter traveled throughout the private room in the back of the restaurant. There was no denying where Drake got his charm from Dennis Graham was a flirt and could charm his way out of any situation with any women. He was no doubt a ladies man, and Drake got it honestly. When he walked in a room the attention went to Dennis and it was because he just had great energy he was warm and his humor came freely, and Drake was the exact same way.
Dennis sat at the head of the long rectangular table, Drake sat next to him of to the side as Tae sat next to Drake. His arm around her shoulder as she leaned into Drake listening to Dennis speaking about the old days when he would perform with his band. He spoke about his brother, Drake's uncle who worked on multiple Marvin Gaye albums, and how he used to make Drake listen to old school music, teaching him how to play the piano. Drake had always been musically inclined. He always had an ear for sound and Dennis could tell at a young age.
As Dennis spoke Tae began to feel nauseous, her stomach began to sink in and her mouth began to salivate. She placed a hand on her stomach a moved in her seat. Drake looked down at her hand then up at her.
"You ok?" A look of genuine concern rushed his face, as Tae grew pale. As Tae shook her head no, Drake removed his arm from her shoulder and stood up, grabbing Tae's hand he led her through the private room to the women's bathroom. Opening the door he walked her in and pushed open the nearest stale, he pulled her hair up as she placed her palms on the toilet seat holding herself up. She jerked forward as a rush of vomit flowed from her mouth into the toilet bowl. Drake placed his hand around her waist for support. She continued to throw up her whole dinner.
"Ok..... I think I'm done." She said as tears rolled down her cheeks. Drake pulled her up looking at her examining her face.
"We need to go home, come on." He said as his arm went back around her waist. She stopped as her body tensed up.
"NO! I'll go home, you need to enjoy the night with your father. You haven't seen each other in a while." She replied back as she turned the cold water on in the sink cupping her hands she scooped water into her mouth.
"It's fine, we need to get you home, my dad will understand." He argued with her standing directly behind her.
"Aubrey. I will be fine. It was probably something I ate, I just need to go home and sleep it off. You stay with your father. I'm a big girl." She demanded back, Drake knew she wasn't going to let up, so he let her take the win.
Drake grabbed Tae's hand and made their way back to the table. She grabbed her blazer that was resting on the back of her chair. Drake bent down to tell his father what was going on. Dennis stood up and pulled Tae into a warm hug.
"It was beautiful meeting you, such a warm soul, and very gorgeous. I'll be seeing more of you right?" He said as released Tae and grabbed both her small hands into his.
"It was a pleasure meeting you as well. Thank you, and yes sir, you will." Tae replied smiling back at the brown skin man who's smile was identical to Drake's. He released her hands, she then turned to the rest of the table. Chubbs and Oliver turned and looked at Tae and Drake. Tae mouthed that she wasn't feeling good. Both men nodded as Drake places his hand on her lower back walking her out the back entrance of the restaurant.
A black SUV sat parked waiting for her. Drake opened the door and helped her into the backseat. "You sure you don't want me to come with you?" He asked her one more time, hoping that she would give in and not put up a fight.
"No, I'm fine, you stay here." She said with a small smile on her face. She touched Drake's beard and smoothing the short tapered hairs down on his chin with her thumb. Another habit that she picked up over the months that Drake grew to love. He grabbed her hand and kissed the back of it.
"Call me AS SOON AS YOU get in the house, do you hear me." Drake demand as he looked directly in her eyes his face was serious and Tae could tell he wasn't making a funny joke.
"Yes." She replied back as she gave him an assured look. Drake leaned up and kissed her forehead, then kissed her lips, he let go of her hand as she straightened herself out in the seat, he closed the back door and hit the back of the SUV signifying it was now ok to pull off.
As he made his way back in he took his seat back at the table, his father smiled at his son, but said nothing. Drake looked up at him as he took a sip from his glass.
"She's the one. Dennis said as he looked at his son. Drake smiled as he shook his head.
"I wouldn't go that far, she's definitely tugging on a lot of heartstrings though." Drake debated to his father as he picked up a piece of bread.
"Nahhh nahhh, nahhhh, she's going to be around for a while, I can tell. She takes care of you emotionally, mentally, and physically. Instead of you taking care of her all the time." Dennis said with a smile. He knew his son and like him, his son was a ladies man, but he could always tell a change in Drake's behavior when it came to a certain woman.
Drake didn't say anything and he didn't have to, he and his father knew he was right. Most women 'wanted' from Drake, they wanted this, they wanted that. The just wanted. It was very rare that Drake was taken care of by a woman that wasn't sexual related. Tae never asked him of anything. Whenever she did speak to him about wanting something materialistic she always spoke as in she was going to buy it for herself. She never asked him to buy it. Drake sat as he took another sip of his champagne. His thoughts were cut off by his phone ringing on the table, she smiled as he picked the phone on and putting it to his ear.
"I'm home, I'm ok." The sweet familiar voice filled his ears as he smiled to himself.
"Good, how are you feeling?" He asked her his voice sounding deeper on the phone than in person.
"I'm fine, I'm going to shower then go to bed. I'm thinking something didn't agree with me that's all." She replied back walking into the large master bedroom.
"I'll be home in a bit, get some rest." Drake softly demanded. He hung up the phone and placed the device back into the table. His thoughts came rushing back as he watched his friends and family enjoy each other's company his father continued telling stories of back in the day. He sipped from his glass and sat back in the chair. Replaying the words his father had said to him.
