I gasped and looked to the direction the voice came from as Aro stepped out into better lighting. His smile both warmed me and sent a frightening chill down my spine. “Once we find those three, they will no longer be any trouble to you dear.” His tone was a mix of evil and maternal care. Funny how those two seem to combine so often around me. “What are you doing here?” I asked him with as much stability as I could muster. I knew why he was here, but I preyed he would give me another answer, like ‘just checking on you, dear.’ Or ‘stoping in to say hello.’
“I heard you were hurt. I came down as soon as I could with Dimitri and Clause and Alec.” He replied. Oh geez. Alec. I cant deal with this right now. But atleast hes not here to take me away.
“Oh. Thannks Aro. I'm, uh, fine.” I stammered. Awkward silence set in and I did my best not to keep eye contact away from Aro, but the challenge intensified greatly when Alec stepped into the room. He poined his gaze at me. “Ophilia-”
“Lia.” I fixed. He ignored my comment and went on. “I hope your doing better.” He added. I shrugged deftly and looked across the room, away from the prying, looming bachelor, and out the window. “Their back.” Alice announced, and I saw a few blurrs outside the window going toward the house. Half a second later all five of them were in my room. I felt completely creeped out and a bit expoased, like I was naked or something. I buried myself deeper under the blanket and rolled over to one side, facing only Esme and Carlisle. “Threes nothing more wrong with me than my leg. I'm alright.”
Carlisle picked up on my signal and ushered everyone out of the room. Before leaving, however, Aro was able to slip me another evlalope. I stuffed it under my pillow and closed my eyes. This isn’t happening, this isn’t happening… I felt someone touch my shoulder and I gasped once more, jumping at the cold sensation and turning around to the person. I was expecting Alec, or maybe Aro, but instead I laid my eyes on the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. Edward leaned over me with a tender expression. I recall the first time he looked at me that way, when I had just gotten to their home and was cowering in a corner, unable to speak. He came to me with a chocolate popsicle, the same ones I had in my freezer at my home, and handed it out to me. “Here you are, Ophilia.”
I shook my head no and stared at him, still in shock. He sat crisscross in front of me and brought the popsicle to his mouth. I felt a jelous stirring inside of me and reached out, snatching it from him, and stuffed it into my mouth, not caring that he had already taken a bite of it. He laughed, like the tinkering of the sweetest bell, and it was then I found my first friend. And even now, as I lay here with him peering over me, he held out a chocolate popsicle.
My throat closed up tight and I felt my eyes wetten. I sat up, just looking at him. Slowly, he moved the cold suculant treat to his mouth, nibbling on it. I knew he didn’t eat real food, or even like it, but he was doing this to cheer me up. I used all my will power to turn away from him and the dessert, not to smile and give myself up. “This is ery delicious.” He pressed. “So yummy.” Hearing the words ‘so yummy’ come from Edward made me smile, but my face was turned so he couldn’t see. I swiftly chocked down the laugh and cleared my throat.
