The nurses measures fabric, making sure my new brace will keep my wrist in place. "So, how'd this happen?" She asks, almost sounding bored.
"I had been walking down the streets and I slipped and tried to break my fall." I informed her, using my left hand to fumble with my jacket.
Her eyes shot up from the fabric, "You tried to break your fall?"
"Yes."
"Well then you're one lucky girl. Most people would have a broken forearm."
I smile at her, silently thanking her for that bit of support. She tracks over to where I sit, wrapping the fabric around my wrist. I wince at the pressure she applies, tears brimming.
"I'll need you to always wear this, the only exceptions are showering and washing your hands. Water peters the strength out. I'll need you to refrain from using your right hand too much, and avoid applying constant pressure.
"And if you're right handed, you can use your hand for writing, but if your wrist starts to hurt them you have to stop." She tells me, finally finishing the complex brace. "Do you need me to do that again for you?"
"No, I think I got it. And if I forget how, I can probably figure it out. Thank you." I tell her, ducking my head in a weird formal manner.
"My pleasure, you can check out now." She tells me, leading me to the door.
I attempt to hail a taxi, waving my arms wildly and jumping around. Just as I was about to give up, a bright yellow car pulled to the curb, causing me to back up to avoid being washed out again. I quickly scurry forwards again once the coast was clear, scampering in to the warm car.
Once I had given him the address and we were off, I couldn't help but admire all the buildings.
I have always had a heart for the city, it's like I was placed somewhere I was just meant to be.
The city. The way the buildings light up, piercing the gray clouded sky, shining through the sprinkles of drops, giving out life.
My thoughts were cut short when a loud screeching sound ringed out. I blinked a couple times, taking in sight of the venue."Thanks." I mutter, handing the driver $20.
