"Yes, I understand." I tell the Atlantic Records secretary. "Well, I guess it makes since that when the tour is finished I can come to the studios more often. It is difficult to make time for helping with the band and finding a studio to take an hours drive to. So yeah, tell him I agree completely, thanks."
I hang up my phone with a loud sigh, that phone call was quite uncomfortable.
"Who was it?" Josh asks from the couch, his posture relaxed but his quizzical expressions revealing something much different.
"Atlantic Records." I say, scratching my arm. "I'm not going into any more studios until the tour is over."
"Oh," Josh said, focusing his gaze on the tiled kitchen floor where I stood before returning his sight to me. "Why?"
"Too much of a hassle." I tell him with a care free demeanor, carefully choosing each action so I don't let my real feelings slip through my cover.
Josh nodded, not saying much. "You okay?" I ask him, walking over to sit by him.
"I saw this picture of you and Tyler..." He begins, my mind automatically fitting two and two together. He saw the picture of me and Tyler at the diner and now he's upset. The reason being, I don't know.
"It's just hard to see you two together." He says, completely skipping over the argument I was awaiting.
"I'm sorry Josh, but it's not like we leave you out." I tell him. He laughs at me, though it's obvious it's for theatre.
"I'm the third wheel on a bicycle, I just make you two unbalanced." He informs me, running his fingers through his newly dyed bright pink hair. I would comment on the change but I figure he would get upset by lack of previous notice.
"You're the drummer of twenty one pilots, I don't think you're making us unbalanced. I think we're one of those really weird bikes that can seat multiple people." I say, shrugging.
A knock on the hotel door interrupts us and I trail over. I peak through the peephole to see a woman, probably mid-twenties, standing there.
"Josh!" I hiss in a quiet voice, motioning for him to come over. The bright blue eyed girl stands there, her style not lacking what-so-ever. The girl could rock bangs.
He slowly trudges over, lazily looking to see who the lady is. His eyes widen and he darts from the door, suddenly feet away from me.
"What?"
"Go in the bathroom." He tells me, pointing a strict finger in the opposite direction of us.
"Why?-" I begin to ask before he pushes me.
"Just go!"
Once the door is closed and the dark cramped room silently rattles me, I hear Josh open the heavy door.
"Hey, Jenna! How are you?" He greets uncertainly.
"I'm fine, where's Tyler?" She asks immediately and unhesitatingly. Tyler, how does she know Tyler?
"He's not here at the moment." He tells her honestly, his nervousness soaking his voice.
"Come on, he won't talk to me at all! He wrote a whole song for me but he can't answer my messages?" She exclaims, her previously irritated voice rising increasingly.
"Wrote a song?" I mumble, playing back any song in the musical room Tyler has ever performed for me or let my listen to. He's never sung me a real song about love, and the music room has revealed a lot about us.
"Love, song, relationship over..." I murmur key verbs, trying to think of any love song. Suddenly it hits me, it's not a song his fans haven't heard, it's a song widely heard!
Tear In My Heart.
So this fashionable chick is the one who sparked Tyler's emotions so dramatically he produced a song all for her.
I press my ear to the scratchy door, Josh undoubtedly knows I'm eavesdropping so he carefully places each of his words.
"Jenna, you need to move on." He tells her in his soothing, calm voice.
"We got I'm a small fight and now he won't contact me! I just want to talk to him!" She says desperately, nearly reeling me in to support her.
I decide to sidestep Josh's wishes and leave the bathroom, quickly gathering my bravery. I exit the bathroom and walk to the mini-fridge, swiftly retrieving a soda.
"Who's this?" I ask Josh, playing innocent.
"Jenna, an old friend." Josh says nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
"And this is Tyler's new friend, if I'm correct." She says, her irritation basically making her jitter. She forces a smile and crosses her arms.
"Actually I've been friends with Josh for years and then I got to go on tour with the boys." I say happily, not letting her negativity get to me.
She nods, awkwardly looking around. "Get him to contact me before I start sending black mail." She threats, squinting her eyes at me and leaving quickly.
"That's the one sweetheart Tyler loved before you." Josh says awkwardly.
