I walked through Josh’s huge house, wearing an aqua and white dress I’d worn to school a few times and some sandals with heals; I thought it was both cute and functional. The party had started awhile ago and I still couldn’t find Josh.

I was just about to give up on finding him when he suddenly appeared next to me. “Hey,” I said with a smile, even though I had actually been hoping I wouldn’t find him. “I’ve been looking for you.”

“What are you wearing?” He asked, looking me over.

“Uh,” I looked down then back up at him. “A sundress type thing?”

He rolled his eyes. “A dress, yes, a dress. I thought I told you not to wear a dress.” I crossed my arms. Was he serious right now? “I mean look at you, you look like a mess in that. You always do. You look much hotter in a skirt.”

Since when is he the leading expert on fashion? What did he know!? I was so going to tell him off! Tell him to back off, I get to decided what I want to wear, not him!

I looked up at him and my words caught in my throat. “I . . . I’m sorry, I guess I forgot.” I’m sorry? Why did I just apologize!?

He sighed, grabbing my arm and leading me into another room. “I swear I can’t take you anywhere.”

“I could go back home and change,” I said with a smile, hoping he’d say yes and I could leave then after I changed my car would suddenly not start. Darn, then I’d have to miss the party.

“No,” he said, letting me go, “This will just have to do.”

I looked up to see Ashley coming toward us. “Hey! Thanks for convincing me to come, this party is awesome!”

I forced a smile onto my face. “Of course! Couldn’t let you miss out on all the fun.”

“Hey Josh!” someone yelled from across the room. “Do you have any ice?”

“Yeah, there’s a bag in the freezer in, eh,” Josh turned and looked to me with a smile. “Why don’t you go show him where it is Kirsten.”

I raised an eyebrow, looking between the smiling Josh and grinning Ashley. What were they so happy about? I rolled my eyes. They must be loving bossing me around. I had to turn this on them somehow.

I turned, flipping my hair and giving the guy a flirty smile. “Sure, I’d love to show him. I need to cool down anyways, it is way too hot in here.” I fanned myself as I walked over to him then grabbed his hand, leaning into him. “Let’s go.”

I glanced back to Josh as I pulled the confused guy away and couldn’t help but grin. Josh was glaring after us, completely jealous. Well that’s what he gets for acting like a jerk. As soon as we were out of sight, I let go of the guy’s hand and took a few steps away from him.

He followed after me, looking even more confused. Just as he started to open his mouth, I stopped at the garage door and pointed to it. “The freezer is in there,” I said flatly, “against the wall.”

I started to walk away but the guy stopped me. “Eh, the door is locked.”

I turned around and tried the handle but sure enough, the door was locked. I looked around for a key but couldn’t find one. Great. Now I had to go back to Josh and ask for a freaking key.

I flipped my hair, taking a deep breath. “You wait here, I’ll be back with a key.”

Before the guy could answer, I took off through the house, looking for Josh again. I started where I left him, but he wasn’t there. Great, it took me almost an hour to find him the first time, now I had to search for him again? I needed to put one of those key finder beepers on him or something.
