Luke: i think you need to have fun. mostly because i'm bored at home
Me: fine. meet me at the mall in 20
Luke: okay. i'm inviting Hanna
Me: WHAT NOO. you don't even have her number
Luke: yeah i do. we exchanged numbers so we can talk about you
Me: exuse me ?
Luke: i'm kidding. i have your phone
Me: no you don't ?
Luke: see you in 20 michaelI was confused at that but changed anyway and left.
I took my dad's car, with permission first of course. He didn't mind, like I knew he would.
I sit in the food court and scroll through Twitter as I wait for Hanna and Luke to get here. Minutes later I hear laughter and I know it's Hanna's.
"Hey" I say with a small smile. Nobody acknowledged me. They both sat down and continued their conversation. I frown and try to say hi again. I was ignored. Again.
"Oh hey, Michael" Luke finally says. "Oh! Hi! I didn't see you two there!" I say sarcastically. "Sorry. We were just talking about the school teachers" Hanna says as she calms down.
I smile slightly, showing I really don't care.
We all stand up again and head off to anywhere. "Why is it so silent? I thought you two would be kissing by now" Hanna almost spits out her drink she came with while I give Luke a glare. "What?" he asks, acting like he didn't do anything wrong.
"Shut up, Luke" I warn.
He stays quiet like I told him to.
"Hey pretty lady" I hear from behind us. I look back to see Hanna stopping in front of some dude. "Hi?" she responds, looking back at me. "Can I get your number?" he bites his lip and looks her up and down. "Hey, I would suggest you leaving before I knock out your gold tooth" I raise up my fist at him. He takes a step back and looks me up and down this time. "You? Knock me out? You're just some kid with red hair and an eyebrow peircing. What could you do?" he chuckles. "A lot worse than you could do" then the guy backs away and leaves.
I look over to see a blushing Hanna. "AHAHA you're blushing Hanna" Luke notes. "Shut up, Luke" she keeps her head low and walks away after whispering a thank you in my ear.
I walk beside her with Luke and we just roam around the mall for a while more.
"Hey Hanna! I have some news for you" he giggles and we stop to look at him. "Luke. Please don't say anything stupid" I sigh, knowing that he won't listen to me.
Either he'll tell her that I'm in love with her, which I might be. Or he'll say something stupid like he farted or he got a new game. Luke's like that. He's unpredictable like most people.
"Mikey likes you. Like he like likes you" he says with a loud giggle, causing people to look our way. "I know that, Luke. I like him too" she looks my way and smiles. I smile back and blush.
The atmosphere is silent and then I finally suggest something to do. "How about we all leave this place and go out into the city. Yeah?" I walk away, hearing footsteps behind me.
"I like that idea" Hanna says quietly.
We decided to take Luke's car. Afterwards he can drop Hanna and I off at the mall to get our cars.
5 minutes into the car ride and one song by Twenty One Pilots, Hanna gets a call. She looks all nervous and flushed. "Are you okay?" I ask in a whisper so Luke can't hear and start to ask irrelevant questions.
"It's my ex Ashton" she mumbles. I remember meeting him and not liking him. So I grab her phone and answer it.
"Hello?" I say with annoyance evident in my voice. "Hello? Who's this?" he asks. "This is Michael. Why are you calling Hanna?"
"Because I need to talk to her. Let me" he says angrily.
"She's too busy hanging out with me. Bye!" and with that, I hang up and hand her the phone back.
"Why did you do that?!" she yells. "What? I did you a favor" I scuff and sit back in my seat in the front. "And what was that favor? Keeping me from other guys?"
That hit me a little harder than it should have. I'm not trying to keep her away from anybody. I know he's a jerk and so I'm just trying to keep her away from guys that are horrible. Maybe I'm one of them but she'll just have to decide.
When we get to the city, Luke parks on a street and types in the address where we parked at in his notes so we don't forget.
Luke and Hanna walk in front of me, leaving me to think by myself.
I could tell she's still annoyed with me. She wouldn't even look my way. All she did was talk to Luke and have fun with him while I stayed silent.
Afterwards in the car, she sits up front this time and talks to Luke, like usual. I sit in back and watch the stars and lights.
Finally, we reach the mall. I hop out after Hanna and walk towards my car.
But then I stop. I don't know why I stopped. Maybe it's because I wanted to apoligize. So I decide to but I can see I'm too late.
She's already gone.
