Today looks like a perfect day to go out with Hannah and embrace the fall activities. So I'm taking Hanna out to a pumpkin patch. It sounds cheesy but I used to love them when I was younger. I would go all of the time with my parents. When they didn't fight.

Hanna debates on what song she wants to put on for the whole drive. All she did was complain but I thought she was adorable when she was mad.

When I get out of the car, the wind blows in my face and tosses my hair around. I tug on my jacket in attempt to keep warm.

I look over to Hanna to see her cheeks and nose red and she's tugging at her jacket as well.

Her smile lightens up both of our moods.

I hold her hand to keep it warm and walk with her towards the ticket booth. "Two tickets, please" I say while getting my wallet out. Hanna puts a hand on my arm. "I'll pay. You do too much for me" she says with a giggle as she takes out her purse. "No, Hanna. It's my treat"

She shakes her head. "No, I want to do this. Please?" she asks with pleading eyes. I finally give in after a while. She giggle and hands the lady the money. "You'll need these for the hay ride" she informs us.

We nod and head inside the short tunnel to where everything is. A small petting zoo for kids, carts with hot coffee, hot chocolate and food along with other drinks.

"Want anything?" I ask. She shakes her head no and we both head for the hay ride line.

When we get on it smells. Like horse crap or something. But I bare through it with Hanna by my side until we get there.

There's small apple trees in rows and next to them are patches of pumpkins everywhere.

We start off with the apples. Sadly, we hear people we despise, Hanna and I.

"Hanna?" he claps his surprisingly large hands when he sees us. "Hi, Ashton" she mumbles as she picks out some apples and hands them to me to put in the bag.

Ashton and his friends talk a small distance from us and I'm praying that she doesn't say anything to him about the night I andwered the phone.

But she does.

"Ashton? I just want to apologize for Michael answering the phone the other night and for what he said to you" Ashton's gaze turns to me and then back to her. "Oh, it's fine. This is between Michael and I" he takes a step towards me, getting too close to me for my liking.

Then out of nowhere he punches me. I fall down on my butt but get up quickly. "Really? You want it to be like that?" I smirk and continue. "Alright then" and with all of my force, I launch towards him and tackle him to the ground.

He punches me again and I could feel a cut on my lip as I glide my tongue against the bottom lip.

I swing a punch at him but miss. Then Ashton pushes me off of him and runs away with his friends. Pfft. Cowards.

"I swear, I could have kicked his butt" I mumble as I touch my lip. I flinch and Hanna gasps lightly.

"Come on. You're coming with me" she says and drops everything. We walk back to the short tunnel and to the car.

She opens the passenger door for me and I kindly take it.

I'm quiet the whole drive and so is Hanna. We say nothing. We let the music from the car radio fill our ears instead.

When we get to her house, we both get out and she directs me to the bathroom. "I'll be back in a minute" she mumbles.

I look around the nice bathroom. Blue walls and it's beach themed. I hop on the bathroom counter and wait until she gets back.

Maybe a minute later she comes back to me holding a bag of ice in one hand and a hand towel in the other.

To my surprise, she squirms in between my legs and helps me. "Hold this against your lip" she informs me. I do as she says.

When she tries to escape, I wrap my legs around her waist so she can't leave me again. "I'd rather press your lips against mine" I whisper in her ear.

She gulps nervously but smirks.

I wrap my arms around her waist to close the space between us and let my legs fall because I know she won't leave.

I did as I said and pressed my lips against hers and kissed her firmly. She kissed me back with the same amount of force.

Unexpectedly, her dad walks in.

"Seriously?" he asks in an annoyed tone.

"I think I should go" I hop off of the counter and hand the ice and towel to Hanna before kissing her cheek and leaving.

I walk out towards my car while thinking what it'll be like when I come home.

And my expectations were nothing like I had imagined. It was much worse.

My dad was drunk. He's rarely drunk but when he is he gets mad out of nowhere and thrashes out to anybody. And I thought drunk people are usually funny...

He pinned me to the wall and screamed, "Why were you late, boy?!"

When I didn't answer he punched me. "Why the hell do you have this cut on your lip? Get into a fight? You probably lost" he taunted.

I fell to the ground when he let go of my jacket.

When I didn't answer like before, he kicked my stomach, causing me to cough and breathe for air.

"Stop this!" my mom yells and holds onto his arm. My dead beat dad slapped my mom and that ticked me off big time. But I was too scared to do anything. I was a coward like Ashton and his friends were this morning.

"You know what? I'm leaving you two. Both of you are disapointments anyway!" and with that and a slammed door, I thought my life would get a whole lot better.
