Unexpected love

Fail..... Part 16

When I get to the hospital I check in and go to his room. I've been doing this for the entire week and my reward shall be seeing him when he wakes up. I walk in and find his mom holding his hand and waiting patiently.

She senses my presence and says. "The doctors said he will wake up in about 20 minutes." She beams. I go to the other side and hold his hand. Then I hold hers. He slips his hand out of mine touches his head and groans. Oh...was that a way of getting out of holding my hand?

"Zach what's wrong?"

"Well you are my nurse aren't you?" I look at him, shocked.

"I-I'm your girlfriend! Julie!" He looks up at me also shocked. Then he starts chuckling.

"I'm flattered really, but I don't have a girlfriend." I step back and find support in a chair. I shake my head and rest it in my hands.

"You don't remember who I am?" I ask quietly. He shakes his head.

"Sorry?" I cry into my hands. His mom walks in with the doctor and sees me.

"What's wrong?" She asks. I shake my head sobbing now.

Zach speaks up. "Mom?" She walks to him and smiles. Great he remembers everything except me. The doctor checks Zach's pupils.

"Does he seem to have memory loss?" He asks I scream.

"Yes yes he does! and he remembers everything except me!" I cry. His mom runs to me and gives me a hug I see my mom step outside to make a call.

When did she get here? That night I spend time with Zach the doctor has to run some tests so he can't tell us what's wrong. His mom comes in and Zach is asleep. I'm sitting frustrated. Every attempt at trying to make him remember failed.

"Ok so I have no clue why he has memory loss....but I do know why he fainted a week ago." She says quietly. I look up at her.

"B-but you said t-that you didn't know a thing!" I say. She nods and sits next to me.

"It's a family sickness. I couldn't tell you. But I know you truly care about Zach and I need to tell you now. As long as you don't go writing a paper about it to make money." She says with a bit of harshness there.

Someone probably did that before.....I nod and eagerly wait for her to tell me.

"Well it's a long story...but to keep it short. Zach inherited a disease from his dad. A disease that if under too much stress you would faint, and sometimes, well it could be deadly. His condition was stable until he, well, fainted."

I look at my hands. "He never told me." I say. She nods. I look at Zach and he's looking at us. I smile and hope he remembers me. He Shakes his head and I pout.

"I-i don't remember you...." I smile sadly at him and nod.

"B-but" he continues, "I do remember that ummm I had a best friend named Julie. Is that you?" I nod happily. He remembers when we were children! I guess the long-term memory stayed!!! I jump up and hug him. He hesitates before hugging me back.

"We were best friends. But then we met again and became more." I whisper.

"I figured. I remember having a crush on you." He whispers back. So we've lost all our progress. I wonder how he feels about me now.

"Do you remember anything else?" I ask. He shakes his head. Oh please remember. I don't want you to forget all about what happened those 3 days. I smile at him and he forces a smile. I guess he doesn't feel the same now. He falls asleep and his mom quietly says,

"don't worry he will remember you. Just then I hear someone behind me.

"JULIE!!" The lady screams. I tilt my head.

"Umm hi?"  She hugs me tight and I can't breathe. When she lets me go she says,
"it's been a while!" My mom shows up behind her smiling.

"Mom, who the fuck is this?" I ask her. Oops language Julie!
