Julie's P.O.V:
I told Zach I could walk to the coffee shop without him. Plus I had Lucky, so I was perfectly safe."Got you a little something." Zach says, stopping me before I walk away. He hands me a blue collar with a gold tag engraved with the name Lucky. I smiled.
"Thanks, it's perfect." I say giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Lucky! Come here baby!" I shout and lucky comes paddling away from the yard and to me. He sits in front of me panting and wagging his tail. "Good boy. Guess what Zachy got you!" I say in a baby voice and slip the collar on him.
"Zachy?" Zach asks, smirking.
"Shhhhh! Don't ruin it." I say playfully. He chuckles. "See you later Zachy." I say waving to him and smiling. He laughs and sticks his hands in his pocket. He shrugs. Oh god. "Stop that! I won't be able to leave." I say frowning. He shrugs again and smirks. He innocently smiles and I run to him. I wrap my arms around his waist and he cups my face, kissing me. "I have to leave Zach." I say and push him away.
"Awww. Promise to be back by 6? Or earlier??" He asks. I nod and clip a leash to Lucky's collar.
"Come on boy." I say, lucky wags his tail and follows me as I leave. When I get to the coffee shop I spot Jack sitting at a table. His leg is nervously bouncing up and down. Haha. I've never seen Jack all nervous like this. I smirk and walk inside. This Starbucks is not one of those coffee places that doesn't allow dogs, they actually have a little play room for them so that owners can let them play but still keep an eye on them. I promised Zach lucky would stay with me though so I pick him up and walk to the table. Jack stands up to greet me. "Hey Julie! I'm so glad you came, I thought you stood me up."
"I'm not mean Jack." I say and shake the hand he held out nervously.
"Yeah I know you aren't. You the nicest person I've ever met...." He gives me a small smile.
"Hehe sure, thanks." I say smiling back at him.
"So what would you like?" He asks, standing up. Lucky sits up at the sudden movement and trains his eyes on Jack. "Hi little guy!" Jack says and approaches him. Lucky backs away and looks at me.
"It's ok lucky." I say in a soft voice. Lucky perks up and wags his tail. Jack pets him and lucky rolls onto his belly. I smile.
"Aww your such a cutie aren't you?" Jack says in a baby voice. I smirk and raise my eyebrow.
"So you have a soft spot for babies or/or puppies?" I ask. His cheeks flush red.
"Uh- yeah." He says. "So what would you like?" He asks, laughing nervously.
"A mocha coffee would be perfect."
"Coming right up." He replies and I smile as he walks to the counter to order. A few minutes later he returns and hands me a red cup with the Starbucks logo on it.
"Thanks." I smile. He nods.
"So when did you get a dog?"
"Zach gave it to me." I reply calmly. Jack stiffens up.
"Very generous." He mumbles.
"Yup. So Jack what did you want to talk about?" I ask changing the subject.
"Oh." He looks down at his lap. I sip my coffee. "I wanted to apologize for being a jerk every time I've seen you. It's just that whenever I see you I want to apologize but then Zach shows up or one of those girls I used to hang out with acts up. No, I always mess it up...." He explains. "I ummm...I'm still in love with you Julie...." He looks up at me with pleading eyes. "I want you to give me a chance. I know your probably with Zach, but I want you to know that I'll keep fighting for you, for us." He states. I bite my lip and pet lucky.
"You're right. I am with Zach." I say, his eyes fall back to his hands. "But that doesn't mean I'm not willing to give friendship a try." I add. He looks back up.
"That's fine by me." He smiles.
"So how's crystal?" I ask
He chuckles. "Crystal.......she misses you. She's always telling me how I was an idiot for letting you get away. I can't believe she's my little sis and she's giving me advice. She's right though. I'm an idiot." He say, shaking his head slightly. I laugh.
"I miss her too. Tell her I said hi ok?" I say.
"Sure. You know the day I.....ummm......screwed up....she came into my room and asked me when I was going to propose to you." He sighs and sips his coffee. My eyes widen.
"P-propose?" I ask.
"Yeah. I bought a ring and everything, she wanted me to hire a photograph and stuff....but then I told her how I screwed up and told her to forget about it." He smiles sadly.
"Oh." Is all i manage to say. Wow. He was going to propose?! "Why didn't you umm..." I gulp, "why didn't you try to get me back?" I ask timidly.
"I was going to. I reserved a hotel room and was planning to take you to dinner. I was going to say how I was so stupid and how I loved you, and at the end of the night if you seemed like you forgave me, I would propose, you know with a whole romantic scene. I still remember how you were and probably still are a hopeless romantic." He stares at the ceiling and smiles. He glances at me and when he sees me staring at him with wide eyes his cheeks burn red. "Oh sorry..."
I look at my hands. "You know, I was heartbroken when I found you with Rebecca." I say quietly. He looks at me with a pained face.
"I know. I'm sorry. She didn't mean anything to me. The only reason I didn't try to get you back was because I realized I wasn't good enough for you. Rebecca basically seduced me, and that's no excuse but I swear I tried to resist. Unfortunately jackass me back then wasn't as committed as I am now." He looks up at me and I chuckle trying to change the subject from the sad events that tore us apart.
"Ok enough with the sad talk! How's life?"
"Terrible. I work for my dad which hates me by the way, still. My mom died a few weeks ago and crystal started dating his guy that I know will break her heart. All that and more, and to top it all off, I don't have a perfect Julie to keep me together." He says smiling weakly.
"What your mother died?!" I yell.
"Yeah." He answers sadly in a small voice.
"Oh my gosh, Jack I'm so sorry. I loved her. " I say, frowning.
"I know, she loved you too. She wanted me to marry you too. You know her last words to me were 'I love you' but before that she told me to get you back. To fight for what I wanted and to take care of those I loved. She said she was proud of me for changing into a better man...." He says, tears threatening to spill. He rubs his eyes and smiles. He drinks the rest of his coffee and I finish mine too. "Thanks for the talk. It really helped." He says with a tight smile. I smile back.
"see you around, friend." I smile and get up to leave.
"Get home safely! Want me to walk you?" He asks. I nod, he happily stands up and practically bounces to me. He grins. "Thanks for letting me walk you." He says and leads me outside. We walk for a few blocks when someone wraps their arm around my waist pulling me close. They then cover my mouth with a cloth. "ATTACK!" I manage to scream to lucky before i loose consciousness. Damn, what a great day.
