Zach's P.O.V:

I rush inside to find out who died. It can't be Julie. It just can't. But why else would the doctor say 'I'm sorry for your loss'? I push open the door and stumble in. Tears stream down my face and I scold myself for being weak. I stare in disbelief at Julie siting on her bed with her head buried in her knees. She's sobbing lightly into the blanket wrapped around her legs. I run to her and pick her up in my arms. I hug her tightly and cry happily. I sit her in my lap and she hugs me back. My tears wet her hair and I wipe them away. I tighten my grip around her. I didn't loose her. Oh thank god, I didn't loose her.

"Zach." She squeaks. I can't speak, I'm so happy. I just nod. "You're suffocating me!" She gasps. I looses my grip and run the back of my neck with my left hand. My right hand is still wrapped around her waist.

"Sorry." I say quietly.

Her eyes are puffy. "Jack died."she whispers. "He died because he stood up for me, and got stabbed with a drug and h-he died because of me." She cries loudly and I hug her again.

"It is most definitely not your fault." I say as I rub her back. She sniffles.

"I'm so tired, Zach." She whispers.

"Go to sleep. I'm not going to leave you ever again." I say softly. She grips my shirt as if she doesn't believe me. I can tell she stays awake because her grip tightens. "I promise." I whisper. She shakes her head and kisses my neck lightly. I smile. "I promise I won't leave you again. I'm so sorry I did before. I will always stay with you from now on." I murmur. She nods and kisses my cheek. She slowly drifts off to sleep. After a while I set her gently on the bed. As soon as I do, she jerks awake. I look at her, shocked.

"Your leaving." She whispers, her voice breaking.

"No no, I'm getting you comfortable. I'll lay next to you." I tell her. I tuck a piece of hair behind her ear and she nods. She clings to my shirt again and I lay next to her, wrapping us in the blankets. She snuggles up to me.

"Stay with me. Forever." She says, her voice shaking.

"I told you, always." I murmur and she wraps her arm around my waist. I pull her closer to reassure her and she looks up at me with sleepy eyes. "Go to sleep." I whisper.

"I-I'm afraid you will leave." She says quietly. I kiss her forehead. I hesitate before I start singing the song my mom used to sing to my when I was little, only I changed a few words.

"Hush, little baby, don't say a word.
I'm gonna buy you a mockingbird

And if that mockingbird won't sing,
I'm gonna buy you a diamond ring.

And if that diamond ring turns brass,
I'm gonna buy you a looking glass.

And if that looking glass gets broke,
I'm gonna buy you a billy goat.

And if that billy goat won't pull,
I'm gonna buy you a cart and bull.

And if that cart and bull turn over,
I'm gonna buy you a dog named Rover.

And if that dog named Rover won't bark,
I'm gonna buy you a horse and cart.

And if that horse and cart fall down,
You'll still be the prettiest girl in town."

I sing. She giggles and slowly falls asleep. I run my hand through her hair. "I love you." I whisper and kiss her forehead again. I leaned my head on the bedrest and stroke her hair. I hum the tune to the lullaby and slowly drift off to sleep too.

I wake up to Steph pacing in front of the bed angrily.

"Who pissed in your cereal?" I ask, yawning. Her head snaps to look at me.
