James ran after the dogs, screaming madly.

"James, no!" Scorpius yelled. He quickly jumped on top of him. James squirmed under his weight trying to throw him off.

"Albus! Help me," Scorpius said.

"Let go of me!" James cried, "What's wrong with you? Hermione needs us!"

"James..." Lily's voice trailed off sadly, "Hermione's gone."

"No, she isn't! She's in trouble! What are you waiting for—"

A body of a girl with long curly brown hair disappeared over the treetops.

All of James's fight left him. His knees collapsed from under him and he stayed there, breathing heavily.

"James–"

"Just— Just leave me alone." He brought his knees up to his chest and buried his face into them.

"I'll do the protective enchantments." Scorpius said.

Lily made her way over to Ginny, whose breath was hiccuping with sobs. She placed her arms around her and a tear slid down her cheek. "I'm so sorry," Lily whispered. Ginny shook her head silently.

I joined Scorpius with the protective enchantments.

Scorpius suddenly said, "That Hermione was something special, wasn't she?"

Caught of guard by the question, I didn't answer.

"What was she like?" he asked.

"You know what she was like," I replied.

"The Hermione I know was the one I met in the games," he stated simply. I noticed he said was instead of is.

"Well, she was like a big sister. Protective, kind, clever. She was always scolding James and Fred for their dumb pranks."

Scorpius casted a look at James, whose face was now buried in his hands, "And what about James?"

"He never shut up. He was always joking around and was the one who lit up a dark room," I sighed, remembering those days.

Scorpius looked at me sadly, "I'm sorry. I guess things change."

And as I looked around at the grief stricken faces all around me, I agreed, "I guess they do."
