Chapter VIII: Calls

"Sometimes what you are looking for comes when you are not looking at all..."

The ice cream in Kath's cup is slowly melting making her lose her appetite for it. Just like her will to act innocent in front of her mother.

Nag aalangan si Minerva na pagusapan ang bagay na ito sa anak. It is unfair for her to tell Kathryn not to be involved in relationships. Nasa tamang edad na siya and she has always trusted her decisions. Even without being told she knows that Kath keeps in mind the consequences.

"Yung naghatid sayo...kaibigan mo 'nak?" she carefully asked.

Uneasy siya sa tanong ng Mama niya kaya umupo siya at tinikman ang icecream.

"Kapatid po ni Calvin Ma.." Kath answered not being able to look at her mother

"Ahhhhh.....di lang kasi ako sanay na may naghahatid sayo, you didn't allow anyone before.." Minerva recalled.Nakikinig lang si Kath not knowing what to reply.

"Pangalawang beses ka ng hinatid niyan.." dagdag pa niya. So she must have seen him bring her home that night he helped her.

Bumuntong hininga sila pareho.

"Kath..." she paused, tumingin sa kanya ang anak at the mention of her name.

She let out a sigh again.

"Daniel is just a friend Ma.." sa huli ay sumagot din siya. Yun naman talaga ang tinutumbok ng Mama niya. She knows that she has her reasons to talk it out to her. Alam niyang off limits ang mga taong di niya kauri. She felt disappointed.

The limits that are set between relationships of the ordinary and Eiraya like her, she is slowly feeling it now. Kath is starting to feel how different she is from everyone. It made her feel burdened, disappointment embraced her.

"That is not what he said in the news.." tumayo ang Mama niya papuntang kusina bitbit ang mga pinagkainan nila ng ice cream.

Sinundan niya ito. Hindi pa napapanood ni Kath ang news na sinasabi ng Mama niya. It makes her wonder what exactly did he said to make her mother worry like that.

Pagkatapos nilang magusap mag ina, umakyat na si Kathryn sa kwarto niya. After hearing those words she suddenly felt tired and wanted to cover herself with blankets and just sleep off her thoughts for the meantime.

She opened her bedroom door without touching it and locked by it's self behind her,put on the lights in a snap and slowly dove in her soft bed.

Nag staring game siya pati ang kisame.

Baka tama ang mama niya, mas maaga mas madali pang iwasan ang sitwasyon nila. Before the feelings grow and go deeper. Before it really melts her insides. Before it reaches her heart. If in case it didnt reach that far yet. Sigh.

Nasa gitna ng pagiisip si Kath kung ano ang dapat niyang gawin ng mag ring ang phone niya. Kinuha niya ito sa bag at tinignan kung sino ang tumatawag.

Kath saw Daniel's name flashing on her phone's screen, her heart immediately danced to a rhythm she is starting to get used to. Pero sumagi sa isip niya ang gustong iparating ng Mama niya kanina. She sighed and against her will,dropped the call.

Masayang masaya si Daniel ngayong araw na ito. Bukod sa nanalo sila sa match with Alaska Aces, nakasama pa niya si Kathryn. May ibang saya na dulot si Kath kay Daniel.

Soon as he enters the condo tinwagan niya si Kath. Nakapag charge na siya sa kotse niya kanina. With all excitement humiga siya with his phone on his ears as he called Kathryn. Two, three, four rings and there was no answer. Naisip niyang baka nakatulog na ito kaya di na siya tumawag pa. Dadalaw na lang siya bukas para sorpresahin si Kath.

Nakahiga siya sa kama when his phone vibrated. He expected that it would be Kath probably returning his call. Pero ang Mama Nerisa niya pala yon.

Sinagot niya ito agad dahil miss na rin niya ito. Bihira kasi siyang umuwi sa kanila pag araw araw ang training nila.

"Hello Ma.." he greeted warmly

His smiled faded when she spoke again. "Dj, ang Lolo Ben mo...inatake."
