~Hannah's POV~

I woke up and Sam was still asleep. It was already 1 pm, but I let him stay asleep. I walked out quietly and found Dean at the table on his laptop.

"Morning Dad... I mean Dean." I corrected myself quickly. Sam just seemed so cool with it, that it slipped out. He turned around and looked at me.

"What did you say?" He asked with a slight bit of anger, but it could have just been him being tired.

"I'm so sorry, Dean. I called you dad on accident." I said softly.

"I'm not mad. Don't be sorry. That's super adorable." He replied with a slight chuckle. I sat down at the table next to him.

"Whatcha doing?" I asked in my best sing song voice.

"Just research. Sammy still asleep?" He asked.

"Yep. He's still asleep. Should we be worried?"

"No. There's just a lot going on. He's just kind of overwhelmed. He'll be ok." Dean told me.

"Oh. Ok. Why is he overwhelmed? The demon thing is uh, dead, and we are all ok." I asked. I didn't totally understand everything that went on with Sam and Dean. They talked a lot about stuff I didn't understand.

~Dean's POV~
She was starting to ask questions, which I expected, but I wasn't sure how I should answer them.

"Because he, uh, ask Sam when he gets up. I don't know how he wants to explain it to you." I replied. I thought I knew why, but I didn't want to assume.

"Ok." She replied nonchalantly. She sat there next to me and read over my shoulder as I researched. About an hour later, Sam came out, hair a mess, and looking groggy.

"Afternoon, guys." He stated happily. He sat down across from us. "You guys doing ok?" He asked.

"Yeah. How about you?" I asked in reply.

"I'm ok. Just tired and my arm hurts." He said, masking how overwhelmed he truly was.

"Sammy, can I ask you a question?" Hannah asked calmly.

"Sure, kiddo. You can ask me anything." He reassured her.

"Why are you overwhelmed? Dean thinks you are and you slept a lot, so I just want to know why." She asked cautiously. I could tell she didn't want to make him mad.

"Just a lot has happened. You're living with us which is great, but I have to make sure that we raise you right. Dean and I got really hurt so we have to try to get better. We have to make sure we give you a life you deserve, that you stay safe, and that you stay fed. We have to keep looking for hunts so we can keep saving people.  There's just a lot going on. I'm ok though, just a lot of thinking." He replied. That was all what I thought except he left out the one major reason I figured, but I decided to ask him about it later.

"Ok. I was just making sure you were ok." She replied with care present in her voice. She got up and walked over to Sam. She gave him a hug.

"Hey, while we are talking about raising you right, I realized we really know nothing about you. Why don't you tell us about yourself, Hannah. When's your birthday, what's your favorite color, that kind of stuff. Anything you want us to know about you." She nodded to Sam's suggestion and sat in her seat, thinking it over in her head before responding.

"My birthday is December 2. My favorite color is purple, but not like a dark purple or a light purple, but an in between purple. Um, I had a stuffed animal that was a bunny that was brown with white spots and a completely brown tail and his name was Hop....That's all I can think of right now." She stated with a smile that faded to sadness as she remembered her stuffed bunny.

"Good to know." I replied. That's when what she said really registered. Her birthday was tomorrow. Sam and I had to get her something, but leaving her alone would be suspicious. "Hey Hannah, can you go play for a sec? I need to ask Sam something privately for a sec."

"Sure." She replied but was confused as to why I needed to talk to Sam.

"What's up, Dean?" He asked.

"Today is December 1. Her birthday is tomorrow. I want to get her another bunny, but I don't know if we can find another just like it." I whispered. He came over to my laptop and opened another tab. He did some quick typing and a few clicks later, they had one pretty close if not the same one at the target a few blocks away.

~Sam's POV~

"There's one at target. I can distract her if you wanna go get it." I suggested. He nodded. "You can come back out now, Hannah. Sorry about that." She came back in with a smile on her face.

"Where's Dean going?" She asked as she saw him grab his coat.

"He's gotta go pick up something for me and he's getting dinner too." I replied loud enough so Dean caught the dinner part. He then left the bunker. "Can I ask you a question?" I asked her gently. I didn't know how she'd react to my question.

"Sure, Sammy."

"Did your parents send you to school, teach you to read, anything like that?" I asked. I hoped it was yes, but I was doubtful.

"They kinda taught me to read, write, and basic math, but they made me be homeschooled since they thought I'd either run away or tell the cops about what they did. I wish I went to school with all the other kids." She said sadly.

"I didn't mean to upset you, kiddo. I'm just wondering. I'm not gonna force you to go to school although I'd like you to. I just know it's something I'll have to discuss with Dean, so I wanted to know what school background you came from." I replied. I really didn't want to upset her.

"It's ok. Now it's my turn. Why do you guys care so much about me? I'm just some little kid on the street." She asked. I didn't get how she couldn't tell.

"Because you're an adorable little kid who is super sweet. You needed help and we helped you. I've always wanted to settle down and have a family but with hunting, it doesn't work too well. Now I can have a family, I have you and I have my brother. Plus, you need someone to care about you. I love you Hannah. You're like a daughter to me now. And you practically are one to Dean too." I explained. She was just the cutest little thing. She had long light brown hair that was always neat and straight with the most beautiful aqua eyes I had ever seen. She was adorable to say the least. We spent 20 minutes just chilling out watching some tv until Dean got back and we ate some dinner.
