I sat on my bed leaning against the wall, strumming my guitar. Yeah, Raven had given it to me yesterday. She said she had gone back to the mall yesterday when we left. She told me she had gotten it for me because at breakfast two days ago, I had been telling her how I used to take guitar lessons when I was about 11 years old.
"Got a feeling that I'm going under, but I know that I'll make it out alive, if I quit calling you my lover, and move on," I sung as I strummed the notes on my guitar. "You watch me bleed until I can't breathe, shaking, falling onto my knees, and now that I'm without your kisses, I'll be needing stitches!"
There was a knock at my door. "Come in, it's unlocked!" I called to the person outside my door.
The door opened and Caine walked in. He smiled when he looked at me, and sat on the end of my bed after he closed the door. Smokey walked over to him and curled up on his lap.
"Hi." He greeted, and laughed as he scratched Smokey. "You're a really good singer and you're really good at playing the guitar, too."
"Yeah. I took guitar lessons when I was 11 years old, and I'm a good singer because I've been practicing ever since I was 7 years old. I always admired people who could sing really good." I chuckled.
"Hm." he nodded, smiling. "Have you heard? Police in cities are blaming us for the robberies and bombings in the towns that we visit. They think it's us because whenever we visit a town to perform, there is a robbery in the town we are in. Police and half the town think it's us. There was a robbery in the mall three days ago. I think someone is framing us." he frowned sadly.
"Really? That's stupid!" I exclaimed.
"Exactly!" he spat out. "It's stupid! Why would we do such a thing?!"
"I don't know, but we need to find out who's doing this and stop him." I frowned.
"So, are you ready for the performance later tonight?" Caine asked.
"Yeah. Doll and I have been practicing ever since the circus tent got set back up." I nodded. What about you?" I asked.
"Good." he smiled. "I'm always excited to get back up on the trapeze." he laughed.
"Yeah. Must be fun." I smiled.
"So, hey. I was wondering if you wanted to play a song with me right now...? Like, I sing and you play?" Caine offered awkwardly.
"Sure!" I smiled. I picked up my guitar from my lap. "What song will we play?" I asked Caine.
"How about This Love by Maroon 5?" he asked.
"Okay." I nodded, and started strumming the opening to the song. When I reached the part where the words began, Caine started to sing.
"I was so high I did not recognize, the fire burning in her eyes, the chaos that controlled my mind, whispered goodbye and she got on a plane, never to return again, but always in my heart!" he sang beautifully. He was a really good singer. And by good singer, I mean great singer- no, wonderful singer! "This love has taken its toll on me, she said Goodbye too many times before, and her heart is breaking in front of me, I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore."
He smiled as he sang and I played my guitar, strumming the strings to the song. "I tried my best to feed her appetite, keep her coming every night, so hard to keep her satisfied, kept playing love like it was just a game, pretending to feel the same, then turn around and leave again." he stared into my eyes and smiled once again as he sang. I smiled back. "This love has taken its toll on me, she said goodbye too many times before, and her heart is breaking in front of me, I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore."
"I'll fix these broken things, repair your broken wings, and make sure everything's alright, my pressure on your hips, sinking my fingertips, into every inch of you, cause I know that's what you want me to do." he sang before going back to the chorus. "This love has taken its toll on me, she said goodbye too many times before, and her heart is breaking in front of me, I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore."
"This love has taken its toll on me, she said goodbye too many times before, and my heart is breaking in front of me, she said Goodbye too many times before." he started to finish the song. "This love has taken its toll on me, she said goodbye too many times before, and her heart is breaking in front of me, I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore..."
We paused when the song finished. "That was great." Caine smiled. "You're really good at playing a guitar." he chuckled.
"And you're really good at singing." I chuckled, and put my guitar on the group beside me and stood up.
"Yeah." Caine nodded, staring into my eyes as I stared back into his. Was this what love felt like? Because I feel like I'm getting a crush on him... Oh this friend zone thing between us right now. "Let's go check out whats going on outside." Caine offered.
"Okay." I nodded, and followed him out my door, and then we stepped off of the train. I saw a police car, with a police officer talking to Joker.
We walked over and heard a bit of the police officers words he spoke. "And if this keeps happening, we're going to have to shut down your circus." he growled.
"But you can't! What about the performers who don't have anywhere else to go?!" Joker exclaimed in anger.
"Well, then that would be your problem." he snapped.
"We're not committing the crimes!" I growled in anger. "You can't just blame us without proof!"
"Well, our proof is that it's obvious that this circus is doing it. Whenever the circus is in town, there is a robbery in the town! Now, good day!" he snapped back, stepping into his police car and slamming the door shut. I could only watch as he drove away and down the road.
