I Never Planned On You

11- Debut Day

"Wake up!" Ben said, shaking me and Melissa awake, so Mel and I just huddled closer together under the covers.

"Go away, child." Melissa groaned, "It is too early for this."

"It's ten in the morning!" He said, pulling the comforters away from our bodies.

"Okay, but we were up until four! That's only six hours of sleep, and I can't run on that!" I say, pushing my hair out of my face, sitting up a little.

"You'll be fine. Get ready, we're all going to breakfast in fifteen minutes!" Ben grabbed Melissa and made her stand up, then doing the same to me before leaving.

"Ugh, I officially hate Ben." Melissa said as we both headed to the bathroom.

"Me too." I agree. How in the world are we supposed to get ready in 15 minutes? Does Ben think that girls just wake up like this? Believe it or not, we're not Beyoncé.

"So, is your family coming?" Mel asked as she squeezed toothpaste onto her brush.

"Yeah, my parents and my brother are flying out this afternoon. I'm super excited, I haven't seen them in too long." I said, doing the same as her.

"I'm really excited for you." Melissa said, taking the toothbrush out of her mouth to say it.

"Thanks, I'm excited too!" I said, leaving the bathroom, still brushing my teeth.

"Move over, missy, I can't reach the bacon!" Josh said as he pushed me back in my chair in order to reach the plate of bacon on the table

"Do you want to switch seats so you can be closer to your wife?" I ask, laughing.

"That would be nice, thanks." He said, pulling me up and putting me in his seat. Um, I was kidding, but okay. Josh will be Josh.

"Hello, seat neighbor." Ben said in a weird voice. "When is your family flying in?" He asked, taking a drink of his orange juice.

"I'm getting them from the airport at two. I'm really excited to see them again, especially my brother, Evan, I miss him a lot." I smile. It's true, though, I miss Evan so much. He's my other half, this is the longest we've ever been without each other. We used to do everything together, and now I haven't seen him in almost two months.

"Awww, does wittle Andie miss her bwother?" He said, grabbing my cheeks and moving my face around.

"Shut up!" I said, taking his hands away from my face.

"Why do you always tell me to shut up? Do you not like me or something? Oh wait, you do like me- no, you looooooove meee." Ben said as he nudged my shoulder

"I swear I will kill you if you ever say that again." I told him as I held up my knife, threateningly.

"Kill him, kill him, kill him." Josh whispered in my ear.

"What? Why?" I whisper back.

"He farted on me to wake me up this morning! Who does that?!" He said, giving Ben the evil eye.

"I would kill him, but I would get arrested, and I don't want that to happen." I laugh.

"Solid point there, Andie." Josh agreed.

The whole cast is out for breakfast at a little family style restaurant here in Florida and it's really nice. I love spending time with these people, they are seriously some of the best people I have ever met.

"You guys," Jeff said, standing up from his chair, "I have an announcement to make."

"Oh, no." Chaz said, facepalming.

"This is my last week at Newsies." Jeff said, sadly.

"What?!" Melissa exclaimed as she stood up to hug him. "You can't leave me!" She said, starting to cry.

"Why are we only finding out about this now?" Meredith said as she joined the hug.

We all stood up to make a big group hug around Jeff.

"You guys are making me cry, stop it!" Jeff said, wiping his tears away. Of course, when I am getting to really  love this cast, someone has to leave.

This is it. I'm about to go onstage to be Katherine Plumber for the first time. I don't care how many shows I have been in, it will always be so exciting to me on my opening night.

"Guess who!" I hear as two hands cover my eyes.

"I know it's you, Ben." I laughed as I turned around.

"Damn, I thought I could fool you." Ben said as he smiled, taking his hands away from me. "It's almost time. You nervous?"

"I'm more excited than nervous, but I'm still nervous." I said, laughing, adjusting my wig as we walk to the stage.

"You're gonna do great." Ben smiled.

Everyone came up and wished me, Joey, Stephen, Aisha, John, and Ethan good luck.

Last was Ben, who gave me a giant hug and said, "Break a leg. Not really, I don't want you to get hurt, but, y'know, metaphorically break a leg." He rambled on as he pulled away.

When I picked my family up from the airport, they were so excited to see me perform, and just to see me in general. Evan ran up to me at the airport and picked me up, hugging me. They are all sitting a few rows behind the orchestra pit, front and center. Honestly, I am kind of nervous for them to see me in this, it's my first BIG role.

Carrying the Banner starts to play and my heart speeds up.

"You ready for this?" Josh asked as he linked his arm with mine. I nodded in reply right before we walked onstage.

I ran onstage for my bow and joined my cast mates on the towers. Joey came out and the audience cheered the loudest for him, expectedly. The towers moved forward so that they could meet Joey, he jumped on and everybody bowed again.

Blackout, we all left the stage, and it was over.
