"You ready to go?" DeMarius asks, knocking on the hotel room door.

"Yeah, let's go." I say, gripping my water bottle. He and I have been very good at doing our every other day running.

"Are you okay? You look a little weird today." He comments as we walk over to the stairs.

"I'm fine, I've just been feeling a little bit off these past few days." I tell him, walking down the first few steps.

"If you're not feeling well, we can skip a day or two." DeMarius suggests.

"No, I'm gonna be okay." I assure him as we walk into the lobby.

"Whatever you say, Ms. Collins." He confines, opening the main hotel door for me.

"What a gentleman." I laugh, trying to not think about the deep ache in my chest.

The surprisingly warm air consumes us as we start jogging, slowly working that into a run.

"Hey, can we stop for a sec?" I ask, bending over and holding my hand over my heart.

"Yeah, are you sure you're okay?" He says, stopping to bend down next to me.

"I'm positive, I just need a second." I assure him, letting out a few heaving breaths.

"Maybe we should go back inside." DeMarius worriedly says, looking back to see how long it will take us to get back to the hotel.

"No, let's keep going." I weakly smile, standing up again, the pounding in my chest now harder than before.

"Okay." He says, uncertainly.

The ache in my chest only gets heaver as we continue to run. I start to say something, when I wail out in pain, falling to the concrete of the sidewalk.

"Oh my God, Andie!" DeMarius sits beside me, propping my head up on his legs.

"M-My heart." I manage to say, the pain getting worse every second.

"You're gonna be okay." He says, not sounding so sure himself.

He pulls his phone out of his pocket, quickly dialing a number, "Yes, my friend just fell and she's really hurt." Pause. "Andrea Collins." Pause. "She has a heart condition that has something to do with plastic." Pause. "Please hurry!"

My eyes close and I let the pain take over, "Andie, I need you to stay awake!" I hear a voice that sounds far away before I don't hear anything at all.

Ben's POV:

"Hey, D." I say into the phone when DeMarius calls me.

"Ben." He manages to say, sounding like he'd been crying.

"Is everything alright?" I ask, concerned.

"Ben, Andie got really hurt. We're in the ambulance now, she's unconscious." I hear him say, my heart breaking with every word. "Are you still there?" He asks.

"Yeah, which hospital are they taking her to?" I ask, hurriedly, putting my shoes on.

"St. Mary's, it isn't very far from the hotel." He says, sounding distracted by something happening in the ambulance.

"Okay, I will be right there." I say, hanging up.

It felt like a whirlwind as I left the hotel and quickly hailed a cab to the hospital.

A minute or two later, I see a lit up building that says, St. Mary's Children Hospital. I give the taxi driver money and jump out of the car as fast as I can.

I run into the building, and beat the ambulance there by 30 seconds.

Hospital workers start crowding around the ER entrance. When I see Andie laying on a gurney with a woman straddling her and repeatedly pushing down on her chest, my own heart stops.

I run over to Andie, but nurses hold me back and tell me that I can't go near her.

The next half hour feels like a blur of doctors and heartache, for both me and Andie.

"Call UNOS and let them know we need to get on the transplant list for a heart." A doctor says to someone sitting at a desk. I stand up and walk over to the doctor, "Is she okay? Andrea, is she okay?" I ask, my voice cracking.

"We're doing everything that we can." She says, trying to assure me that everything will be alright.

"Come on, Ben." Melissa says, holding my shoulders and ushering me back to the chair I was previously in.

"Andie is gonna be okay." Josh assures me, patting my back and I simply nod in response.

An hour later, I can hear helicopter blades above us on the roof.

Andie's POV:

I can see surgeons crowding around a girl on a table. I try to get their attentions, but it's like I'm not even there.

"Hello?" I try to make my presence known. I walk closer and see that the girl is me.

"We need another bag of O-neg." A doctor demands. Someone else hangs a bag of blood on a hook, and attaches it onto a needle that was already in my arm.

"Alright, everybody, we only have one try to do this, let's make it count." The surgeon- who appears to be in charge - says.

I see them lift my heart out of my chest and place it in a dish. Then, they take another heart out of a cooler and place it where my old one was.

They work a little more and step back, waiting for a heart beat.

Silence.

Beep. Beep. Beep. The heart monitor chirps and they all sigh in relief.

"Okay, let's close her up." The same surgeon says, before stitching my chest back together.

helloooo! i would just like to thank grey's anatomy for all of the doctorish words in this chapter, and the next chapter haha
