CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

=Destiny's POV=

  "I know you guys won't mind if I take Destiny Patchi Whitney as my girlfriend, right?" Greyson asked the audience.

  I gasped. I hadn't realised the steady stream of tears that were rolling down my cheeks; I could hardly believe what had just happened. I was watching Greyson on the Ellen show on TV. I remembered how excited I once was years back when he ran to my house – he was practically bouncing up and down like a ball – exclaiming that he had been invited to be on the Ellen show. But he was really nervous at the same time as it was his first flight ever. Both Britney and I had been so happy for him; we even had a small celebration where we spent part of our savings on cakes and beverages.

  Now he was on the Ellen show and, although he was still the multi-talented sweet boy who stole my heart long ago, he had grown. He was no longer the young boy with baby cheeks and a shy smile. He was a confident young man with a perfectly-sculpted face and a well-toned body, able to have all the ladies in the universe bow down to the charisma that exuded from him. 

  He had just told the audience a story about this girl he's been loving since forever; she sounded flawless and I never thought that it could be me until he mentioned my name. "I know you guys won't mind if I take Destiny Patchi Whitney as my girlfriend, right?" 

  "Despite all her insecurities, her sickness and everything, I would still love her and her only. Nobody else could ever replace her," Greyson went on. With that, the audience stood up and clapped so loudly that the sound of the applause began resonating throughout the room. 

  "I strongly believe that everyone would wish the best for you and Destiny. So yeah, Grey, go get what you want!” Ellen spoke as she patted Greyson on his shoulder. 

Greyson stood almost instantly and ran.

=Greyson’s POV= 

  “Dude, hospital, now!” I told my driver. It worked. Everyone supported me to go after my heart. I ran as fast as my legs could take me inside once the car came to a halt. I probably could have won an Olympic medal if I was in a race, but ain’t nobody got time for that. 

  “Destiny!” I cried as I finally reached her side. I noticed that the television was on and she was weeping, watching me live on the Ellen show.

   “Hush baby, why are you crying? Your tears are the most precious things ever, don’t let them fall easily,” I whispered as I caressed her smooth cheeks.

   Destiny lay on my chest and covered her face with her hair. I tried to regulate my breathing from running there. She mumbled something I failed to catch but I didn’t say anything; I just wrapped my arms around her petite figure protectively, wishing I could keep her in my arms for the rest of my life. 

“Dee…” I began as I held her chin so I could see her face properly, “I want you to know that since the day we met I've fallen deeply in love with you. There are no words to express the gratitude I feel in my heart that you came into my life, and how you make every day so special. You are my life, my heart, my soul. You are my best friend, my one true love, my one and only. I love you more today than I did yesterday, and I'll love you more tomorrow than I do today.” 

  I rolled my lips into my mouth to wet them for a second before I continued, “I've been trying to find a way to express my feelings for you. I’ve always wanted to create something unique to show you just how much I love you. Now I’ve found the right place, and I’m going to tell the world that I love you! It may sound crazy and corny, but I want to tell the whole universe about the true and sincere affection I have for you. I cannot tell you exactly how I feel, but I hope that you feel the warmth of my love whenever we are together. I will be right here beside you any time you need me, and I will be with you until I breathe my last breath. I promise to share my life with you no matter what tomorrow may bring.”

   Destiny looked at me with an unreadable expression in her beautiful green eyes. I tried to search her face for a hint of what was on her mind, but she kept her expression clouded. My eyebrows met at the centre of my forehead as I tried to think back if I said anything wrongly.

  Just then I felt Destiny’s cold, delicate fingers smoothing out the crease formed on my forehead. She trailed her fingers from my eyebrow to my chin then entwined her fingers with mine. I swear my heart had never beat so fast, I doubted she couldn’t hear my heartbeat.

  “I never knew how much I loved you until I tried imagining not having you in my life. I realised then that I can’t live without you,” Destiny whispered so softly, but those words melted all my fears in losing her. 

“Let’s learn to love again,” I said as I planted a kiss on her temple. Destiny smiled – that smile that made me fall in love with her all over again every time she did it. I found myself mirroring her expression. I loved it when she smiled; I loved it even better when I am the reason.
