Flashback:
{Chapter Four} "Winter! We can't go there!" My twin sister Summer shouted at me in a hushed tone as I walked down a stair that leads to a tunnel. "Winter come back here! It's dangerous." Summer looked down at me with widened and teary eyes. "Please Winter, come back up."
"Don't be such a baby Summer, something is calling me down here. It's important." I shushed her with a shook of a head and looked at her for a few moments before moving away from the stairs and started to walk further into the dark hallways of the tunnel.
"Winter, I'm going to tell dad!" Summer shouted at me before I didn't hear her anymore but I ignored her and kept on walking, my intuition guiding me to where I needed to go. I stopped in front of a cell and held the bars, my head leaning closer to look inside.
"Hello? Are you in there?" I tiptoed still holding the bars secured and gasped when a figure started to walk out from the dark and toward me. "Who are you?" A boy around my age said as he stopped in front of me, his head cocked to the side as he stared at me with mesmerizing clear grey eyes, almost white. "You're not supposed to be here, they say I'm dangerous."
"Well, I don't think you are. Do you want to see something cool?" I asked him as I stepped away from the bars and closed my eyes when he nodded his head. "Ta-da!" The cell door creaked open and the boy stared at me wide eyes but in horror.
"Why did you do that? Close the cell back!" He growled at me loudly and I widened my eyes with a gasp, falling backwards. "Are you okay?" He asked me worried and made his way toward me but I scrambled on my feet.
"Yes, why did you growl at me? I thought we were friends." I pouted at him as I pushed my hair behind my back. "Forget it, let's go play?" He nodded his head with a grin and took my hand when I offered him my hand. "Ay!" I yanked my hand away from him when my body did something crazy.
"Did you feel that?" He asked in wonder as he stared down at his hand before looking up at me in the eyes. "It feels nice." He shrugged with a smile and I grinned ear to ear as I gave him my hand again, this time not pulling away when my body did something crazy.
It was like fireworks on the fourth of July and butterflies flying around in my stomach but I felt like I was electrified at the same time. "Yes, it feels nice." I squealed loudly at him and rushed us out of the tunnel. "I'll go out first okay?" I turned to look down at him as I walked up the stairs and then looked down at him. "Come on, your turn."
He started to climb up the stairs and I gave him my hand when he got out. "Let's go." I dragged him toward my favorite place and walked down the river, my feet stepping on a tree trunk floating above the lake. "What's your name? I'm Winter."
I stretched my arms as I walked on the tree trunk with my feet crossing each other. "My name's Khalid." He followed behind me closely as I continued to balance my way on the fallen tree trunk. "We shouldn't be doing this, it's dangerous."
"No it's...Ah!" I screamed pitchily when my foot slipped on the tree trunk and I stumbled to the side but was caught just in time before I could fall in the water. I breathed out heavily as I slowly turned to face Khalid. "Thank you."
"Are you okay?" I nodded my head and turned around to walk back to the shore. "We should probably go back, you father is going to be angry." Khalid said as he gave me his hand and we walked back to the tunnel.
"Why are you in here?" I asked him after I closed the cell and held the bars as I stared at him with sad eyes. "I have to go." I told him hurriedly when I heard my father's voice. "I'll be back." I kept my promise and came back, I would go down to the tunnels and get him out like I did the first time.
