{Chapter Nine} I hid myself behind Khalid as vicious werewolves appeared from everywhere in their human form, extending their claws and canines as they stared at us darkly. I hid more behind him and shrunk my petite form scared. "Whatever you do, stay behind me."
He extended his own claws and waited for them to attack first. I yelped as one of the werewolves attacked Khalid from the side, making me turn around with him as he slash his claws in his chest and pressed his shoulder. I pressed my hands on my ears as the werewolf let out a scream before it was cut short by Khalid pulling his heart out.
I wasn't playing when I said my father trained them to kill and destroy everything in their way. I stayed behind Khalid as the werewolves attacked now all at once, my body moving around as Khalid did his best to protect me from them.
Before I could blink, around us were nothing but silence and heavy breathing. My chest moved up and down heavily as I stared around me at all the dead bodies with their heart's next to them. "Your keys Winter....I know you're panicking but we need to go like now."
I shakily gave him my keys and stood there frozen in place that he had to drag me toward my car. He opened the passenger seat for me to get in and secured me with the seat belt before slamming the door close and rounded the car to open the driver door.
"It was you or them Winter, just remember that." Khalid started the engine and drove away from the beach parking lot. He sighed at my quietness and turned to look at me but said nothing, his hand on the steer wheel as I looked out of the window and then back at the road.
"I know, just take me home." I brought my legs up on the seat and leaned them against my chest as I laid my head on my knees, looking out of the window as we drove by.
"Winter, I know your mind has a lot of questions as to why those werewolves tried to attack us but you'll have to trust me on this." Khalid said and I raised my head from my knees and turned to look at him.

"What happened?" My father asked when we made our way inside, Khalid's jacket around me as I tried to warm up my shaky form. "Winter go take a shower, while I talk to Khalid." I looked behind me at Khalid before rushing up the stairs.
I slammed my door close and laid my head on the door as I pressed my eyes close, a teardrop falling down my cheek as I recall what happened in the parking lot. The memory still freshly printed in my mind, it was horrifying.
I never saw Khalid like this, on killing mode. My father's training sure helped him control his curse.
I took his jacket off of me and tossed it aside, moving the straps of my dress down my shoulders and leaned it down to step out of it. I took my bikini off and leaned inside of the shower to open the handle and set the temperature of the water where I wanted it before stepping in the shower.
I slid the door close and got under the water, smoke lingering in the shower at how hot the water was but it wasn't burning my skin. "Winter." The door slid open roughly as Khalid got inside, hissing at the hot water burned his skin and turned off the handle. "What were you thinking?! You're burning." He looked at me for any burns but he found none and I gasped at the redness on his whole arm.
"I'm fine, you're the one who burned!" I ignored the fact that he was seeing me naked, I mean? Really? And got out of the shower, wrapping a towel around my body as I made my way toward the cupboard, pulling out a crème for anti burns.
"I'm fine, it's going to heal anyways but why didn't you burn?" He hissed as I applied the crème on his red skin and looked up at him. "Are you still mad at me?" I shook my head and sighed deeply.
