{Chapter Five}  The whipping sounds of a latigo connecting with a skin tormented my mind, screams of agony and pain filled my memories as I tossed and turned on the bed, my body sweaty and warm as I clutched at the sheets, no's and no more leaving my mouth. "No!" I jolted awake from my dream or should I say nightmare haunting me?

I ran a shaky hand through my hair and turned around to look at the clock on the nightstand. The clock showing exactly four am and a groan escaped my throat as I slumped on the bed again.

"Winter! Rise and shine." I ughed as I whirled around on the bed and hovered my sheets over my head to quiet down Summer's yelling. "Come on! It's a beautiful day!" She tugged hard on my sheets and tossed them on the ground.

Damn you Khalid for making me go back home, now I remember why I wanted to leave ASAP. "Summer! Get out!" I jolted from the bed annoyed and got out of the bed as I shoved her out of my room, slamming the door close with a lock sound. I sighed deeply with slumped shoulders and strolled toward my bathroom, doing my daily routine.

I put my cheerleader uniform and brushed my hair in a ponytail, my lips with a light rose lipstick and my cheeks with a light blush on them. I sighed and with a pop of my lips I put a smile on my face and whirled around to grab my handbag.

"Winter!" Summer shouted as she knocked on my door constantly. "We're going to be late!" Ugh! Can't she just buy a new car and stop annoying me? "If you can't wait, take the bus or walk!" I unlocked the door and yanked it open, staring angrily at a beaming Summer. "What are you beaming at?" I raised my eyebrow at her and sighed. "You know what? I don't even want to know."

"Can't a girl miss her sister?" I walked past her with a roll of an eye and headed toward the stairs, skipping down. "Winter, you have doctor's appointment today after school, don't forget." My grandmother said as she appeared next to the stairs, arms crossed.

"I know nana, I'll be there." I kissed both of her cheeks and pulled away from her. "Where's dad?" I asked as I looked around with a frown. "If you'd woken up early you'd know that he's at the hospital, he stayed there with mom since yesterday night." Summer said with a scold and I rolled my eyes at her, she's such a daddy's girl.

"Anyways, nana we'll be back before you know it." I kissed her cheeks again before pulling away as Summer pulled her into a tight hug, acting like it was the last time she was going to see her.

"See you nana." Summer said before she pulled away from her and followed behind me as I made my way out of the house and toward my car, unlocking the doors. "I still can't believe that we're in senior year! I feel like something good is going to happen today." Summer beamed excitedly as she crushed her hands in fists.

I rolled my eyes at her with a shook of a head and started the car. "Why so negative? I swear that you're turning into a bitch with each day pass. You need to live life to the max!" Ha, it's easy for you to say, you're not the one with the short life, I wanted to say but I stayed quiet.

I drove from in front of the house and made my way toward the road to school, the music of staind blasting through the speakers. "I still don't know how you can listen to this." Summer moaned in my car, over my music choice.

"I already told you, you should have taken the bus or walk. I gave you two options but you decided to go with me so shut it. I can listen to whatever and to whoever I want." That was the last thing I said before we drove to school in complete and utterly silence.

I sighed and turned to look at Summer. "I'm sorry." I muttered as I glanced at her from the corner of my eyes. I may be annoyed sometimes by her but she's still my sister, I can't be mad at her for long.
