Lauren's Pov

Well, as fun as all this was, I was tired of listening to Luke Henderson moan constantly about how the NYPD didn't do enough to solve his sister's murder. "Hopefully, now that the FBI is here, something will actually get done." It sounded a lot like he was assuming that we would be able to solve the case and catch the killer. Don't get me wrong, I wanted to catch the guy, perhaps more than anyone else on the team, but what if we couldn't. I really didn't want to let everyone down, especially Brooke.

"I promised that we would catch whoever is responsible and I meant it. I never go back on my promises!" Emily replied, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. Not once had she kept a promise to me.

When she left us, she promised that she would come back, but she never did; and how many times had she told me that she would always be there for me, and then nothing for more than fifteen years. Emily was probably lying now: I guess she lied a lot more than any of us thought.

Reid's Pov

Once Rossi and Morgan had returned from the Ashton's house, the four of us began the search for the green pick up that Stephen had said he had seen. "Did he remember the licence number?" I had to ask even though I feared the answer would be a no.

"All he said was that he thinks it had a 3 and a 6 in it." Well, that wasn't much help, but I suppose it was better than nothing.

Just at that moment, Morgan's cell rang and interrupted my thought process. He picked up and put it on speaker. "Garcia, you're on speaker. What have you got for me?" We all sat forward ready to hear what Garcia had to say.

"So, I found security footage from a house across the street from the Ashton's. It enabled me to get a bit of a better look at the licence plate belonging to the green pick up." Garcia was awesome and nobody knew it more than she did. "I've sent it to you already. Check your email my friends. Garcia out!" And then she was gone.

JJ's Pov

As we pulled up outside the precinct, Emily got Luke out of the back seat and I went to get out, but Lauren didn't move. Something wasn't right; she didn't look too good. "Lauren?" She didn't react when I called her name. "Lauren?" Still nothing. "Lauren, are you okay?" She seemed distracted. "LAUREN?" That caught her attention.

"What? Sorry, what did you say?" I looked up at Emily and wondered if she was as worried about Lauren as I was.

"I asked if you were okay. You seem a little off today." Lauren got out of the car and turned back to me as she headed into the precinct. "I'm fine, honestly. I just haven't eaten much all day." I didn't buy it but I wasn't going to push her, so instead I dropped it and we all headed inside.

"Hey, it's the newbie." Derek shouted as soon as he saw Lauren. It was kinda obvious that he still liked her; they would have made a pretty cute couple.

"Hey. This is Luke Henderson. He's Kelly Watson's brother." The rest of the team nodded and welcomed him. Derek added a little smile at the end of his, and I was pretty sure that it was just for her. Lauren.
