Derek's pov

   Seeing Brooke like that really shook Lauren up. To have someone close to you hurt in such a violent and destructive way would terrify anyone, but especially a member of law enforcement. All I wanted to do was hold her, tell her that everything would be fine and make sure that she knew I would do anything to protect her and keep her safe.

   "Morgan, call Garcia. Ask her to check if the paths of our three New York victims crossed at any point." Hotch caught me off guard. "Morgan?" Reid elbowed me and I jabbed him back.

   "On it!" I picked my cell up off the table and went out into the corridor to make the call.

   Garcia answered almost immediately. "How can I assist you, my hot, chocolate God?" She made me smile everytime.

   "Hi to you too princess." I asked her to do exactly what Hotch had said.

   "I'll get back to you as soon as I have something." Which would be pretty quickly knowing Garcia.

"Thank You Baby Girl!" I hung up and headed back to the others.

Lauren's pov

   Derek had been unusually quiet since we left the hospital; distant, like he was daydreaming or something. I watched him as he came back into the room and sat down in silence. That's when I caught Emily looking at me again and once she knew I'd seen her, she headed over and sat down beside me. "Lauren, please can we talk? There are a couple of things you need to know." I couldn't make a scene, not in front of everyone.

   "Not here." I turned to face Emily. "We can talk when we get a break." I couldn't put her off forever.

   "As long as you mean it. You'll listen to what I have to say and you won't get angry?" There was no way I could guarantee that I wouldn't get angry, but I could try.

   "Okay, but you need to understand that there is always a chance that I might get a little mad." If Emily couldn't accept this then I wouldn't talk to her. It was as simple as that.

   "Deal. Just try?" I had to give her that. "Fine!" I went back to taking notes and Emily returned to her seat.

Emily's pov

   I was glad Lauren had finally agreed to listen to me, now I just need to make her understand why I did what I did. It had been twenty minutes since our conversation and I was praying that someone would call for a break soon.

   "Im gonna collapse if I don't get something to eat soon." Morgan piped up.

   "Me too, so let's take a thirty minute break." Finally. Hotch just made my day. Everyone stood up to exit the room and as I glanced over at Lauren, she shot me a look as if to say 'not you', which clearly meant that I was to stay behind.
