Chapter 6

Derek's pov

   It had been almost three months since Lauren had joined the BAU and we had kept our relationship a secret from everyone. We couldn't risk it getting out; if it did then we could both be out of a job.

   "Derek?" I walked back into the bedroom to find than Lauren had woken up. She was still snuggled under the bed covers, just looking up at me; smiling. God, I love her smile.

   "Yeah Princess?" It was getting harder to keep my feelings for Lauren from the rest of the team. Working with her everyday and not being able to hold her or kiss her; it was tough.

   "Hotch just called. We got a case." Great. More violence and murder.

   "We better get a move on then, hadn't we?" I climbed onto the bed and kissed her. I kept on kissing her until she pushed me off. "If we don't stop then we're gonna be late." She kissed me again and went for a shower.

   "Separate cars, yeah?" Bit of a stupid question.

   "Yeah. I suppose." I pulled on my jeans and buckled up my belt as I heard Lauren turn the shower on.

Lauren's pov

   Derek and I arrived at the BAU at 9am, ready for briefing at 09:30. I went in first and Derek followed a few minutes later. When I got to my office everyone was at their desks. Reid saw me and came running over to me. "Lauren, come here. I wanna show you something." I hadn't even put my bag down, when Spence grabbed my hand and dragged me over to his desk. "Turn around." I did what he asked until he said I could turn back. "Okay. You can look now." It only took a few seconds for the cap to explode and send the film canister flying across the room. It almost hit Derek on the head as he approached his desk.

   "You showing the newbie your science magic, Reid?" Derek flashed the two of us a smile and I could have sworn my heart skipped a beat. I couldn't help but let my gaze follow him right up to the doors of the conference room. That's when I saw her; a woman I hadn't seen in over fifteen years.

Emily's pov

   If the look on Derek's face was anything to go by when he saw me, the rest of the team would be happy I was back too. I heard Hotch shout for the team as he made his way from his office. "Conference room. Now." I saw Rossi, JJ, and Reid head up, but who was the other woman? She must be the one who took over from Blake.

   As they entered the conference room, I saw their faces light up, well, all except for the woman I didn't recognise. "Emily, what are you doing here?" Reid only asked what everyone else was thinking.

   "Emily is back to help with the case we just got called in for." I smiled at Hotch and then turned my attention back to the team.

   "It's good to be back!" I said as Garcia stood up ready to brief everybody.

   "Oh. I almost Forgot." Hotch interrupted. "Emily, this is our newest team member, Lauren Stone." Did I just hear him right? It couldn't be; not her. I hadn't seen her in fifteen years and here she was, right in front of me. Saying that I was shocked would be an understatement.
