Dean enters his first class of the day and sits down with Cas at the back of the room. A couple minutes after the bell rings the teacher starts calling roll. "Castiel Novak" she says when she gets to Cas. Cas raises his hand quickly. Dean looks over at him. Cas doesn't like people using his whole first name and now everyone knows about him being kicked out so using his last name is an intentional jab. Cas puts his head on his hand, his hair falling over one of his eyes, and turns to look at Dean. Dean can see annoyance masking sadness in Cas's eyes. Dean moves his hand so he's touching Cas's arm. Cas sighs. The same thing happens next class with the teacher calling out Castiel Novak instead of just Cas. In third period Dean doesn't have the same class as Cas. He sits down in the front of the classroom and quietly starts the bell work. Everything goes normally until about ten minutes into class when the telephone rings. The teacher answers it, nodding as she listens to the person on the other side. "Dean, your being called down to the guidance counselor's office" she says when she puts the phone down. Dean stands up, grabs the pass, and walks out of the classroom. He knows exactly why he's being called down. Sure enough when he enters the guidance counselor's office Cas is sitting at the table with his arms crossed and looking annoyed. The guidance counselor Mrs Heather and the principle Mr Michaels also sit at the round table. "What's going on" Dean asks, faking ignorance. "We wanted to talk to you boys about this situation" Mr Michaels says. "Please have a seat" Mrs Heather chimes in. Cas takes the only available seat across the table from Cas. Dean guesses the teacher sat where they are intentionally so they weren't together. "So it has come to our attention that you two have decided to be in a relationship" Mrs Heather says, her cheerful tone laced with obvious disapproval. Cas nudges Dean's foot with his and Dean has to resist the urge to laugh. "Yeah" Dean says a little cautiously. "Well we wanted to help you with these unhealthy thoughts" Mrs Heather says. Cas and Dean looked at each other across the table with the same look of annoyance and slight confusion on their faces. "Basically what you two are doing is a sin and is not right" Mr Michaels says. Mrs Heather gives him a quick stern look. "That was a little blunt don't 'cha think" she says. Mr Michaels shrugs. Mrs Heather shakes her head before looking back at Dean and Cas. "What do you wanna do about it" Cas asks. "We want to help you see that what you two are doing is not acceptable behavior" Mrs Heather says. "Loving someone isn't acceptable behavior?" Dean says, pumping as much feeling as he can into the statement without over dramatising it. He even does a slight puppy dog eyes for good measure. Mrs Heather's eyes fill with pity. "It's not real love" she says. "Yes it is" Cas says, sitting up in his chair. "The bible says Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" Mrs Heather says still as if she's comforting someone, "a man being with another man isn't right." "Well the bible also says we should accept each other" Cas says. Mrs Heather doesn't respond to him. "Well this just can't continue, it immoral" she says politely. Cas groans and Dean shoots him a look telling him to shut up. "Well we're not going to stop loving each other but if you insist we'll listen to your suggestion" Dean says, his voice saturated with sarcasm but just polite enough that they can't chastise him for it. Mrs Heather and Mr Michaels sit there in silence looking confused. "Do you think this is a joke" Mr Michaels says. "Um kinda" Cas says. "Well we have kept you long enough" Mrs Heather says before Mr Michaels can get mad "you may go back to class but I want you two to remember what I said." Cas stands up immediately but Dean nods before getting up. Cas walks around the table and grabs Dean's hand. Both adults looked slightly horrified as Cas quickly kisses Dean before they leave the room.
