My little mate was sound asleep as we drove back to her house. Parking outside her house I could hear Mia standing up and making her way to the door. The guys got out and stood by the car. I got out and walked around to River's side. Opening the door I looked at her. I was angry at her. For one because she had been with that bitch. And I was angry at myself...because it took me so long to figure out that, that picture was them together. I looked at Cole, "Take her inside. I need to be away from her." I growled not directly at him. My wolf was angry that I was letting him touch her but I couldn't bring myself to care right now. Cole went to pick her up as she stirred. "Leila..." She mumbled. Cole looked at me and I shook my head. I couldn't be near her. As much as I wanted too. Cole nodded as he walked towards the front door to be greeted by Mia and her mother. "Oh thank god! Thank you Leila, I am forever in your debt." Her mother said rushing to give me a hug. I patted her back and crossed my arms. "I need to speak with you. Privately." I said. My eyes were swirling with color. My wolf wanted to be let out. Her mother, who's name I still didn't know, nodded and stood there bowing her head. I looked at her a little confused but stayed quiet. "Stay here with her. Do NOT let her out of this house." I said walking to the drivers seat and her mother getting into the passenger seat. "Ok." Blake said going inside with everyone else. "Relax and calm down. Think of your mate Leila." Coles voiced his thought through our mind link.
We drove in complete and utter silence to a small cafe around town. I chose to sit in a booth all the way in the back. The owner knew who I was and when I say back there I made sure to not let anyone come close to the hearing range.
"So." I said looking at her. My wolf wanted to be with her mate. But I needed answers. "My name is Sam. I know you are mates with my daughter." She said smiling. Both my wolf and me looked at her surprised. My eyes started to turn black. "How do you know about mates?" I growled. She chuckled at my outburst. "Are you mocking me?" I growled already shaking. "Forgive me Leila, I shouldn't have laughed. I know because my husband, Rivers father, is a werewolf." She said smiling. I looked at her shocked. "D-Does that mean?" I stuttered. It couldn't be. It couldn't be that River was a werewolf. "Unfortunately no. She is not a werewolf. She is human. Her human genes were a lot stronger then the werewolf gene." She said taking a sip of her coffee. "I know she is your mate by the way you look at her. It's the same look my husband give me." She said smiling at me. I stood there quiet. Not really knowing what to say. "I'm really happy she has you as a mate. She deserves happiness in her life." She said looking at her coffee. I nodded not knowing what to say still. "I know she was with that other girl, Jasmine. That girl never cared for her. Treated her like crap. Yet River fell for her like she was the only girl in the world." Her words hurt me and my wolf. My little mate was in love with someone that wasn't us. My wolf whimpered at the thought. "Once that girl broke up with her, I never seen her so depressed. I told her someone one day will come into her life and sweep her off her feet. But it seemed like she didn't care. My daughter will be hard to convince. What I mean is, is that it will be hard for her to accept you. And your wolf. She's quite the handful Leila. She's a challenge. And believe me. It's hard to understand her." She said looking at me with a look that told me that after today things were going to change and it might be a big roller coaster between us. "But I need you to promise me something." I frowned and looked at her, "What is it?" I said. My voice didn't come out strong. Instead it came out as if I was scared. Deep down I knew I was. This is my mate. My other half. The one made for me. If she ever left me. My wolf and me will be in for a heap of a ride filled with pain. "Promise me that you won't give up on her. I know she will be difficult but I know you are good for her." She said almost pleading. She grabbed my hand softly and smiled. Her eyes held that hope that I would bring happiness to her daughter. "I promise." I uttered those words and gave her hand a small squeeze for reassurance. She sighed and smiled. "I knew you were perfect for her." She smiled. I gave her a small smile, but in the back of my mind I was afraid River wouldnt accept me or us. "Don't be stupid, she'll love us. We just have to try hard." My wolf growled. Now all was left was to talk to my little mate. Maybe being away from her wasn't good but I knew I had to try and get close to her.
Over the next few days that passed by I kept talking to River. She seemed a lot more happier with me. The mating bond was working its magic. Things were good. I was happy but I couldn't get it out of my head that she was in love with that bitch. Mia, me and the guys were planning a trip to go to my fathers territory, and talk to him about the recent events. We would be gone for 3 days. My wolf was whining about it since we saw each other every day. I didn't want to leave her but I didn't want to ask her since I didn't know if she would want to. "Leila are you even Listening?" Mia growled a little annoyed. "Sorry I'm just not in the mood for this. Excuse me." I said getting up from the table and walking to my room. I threw myself in bed just laying there. "You alright?" Cole said standing by the door. "Yeah." Was all I could say. "Your wolf is giving you hell, isn't she?" He said. "Yeah, she doesn't want to leave her behind. Not after what we discovered." I said digging my face more into my pillow. "Ask her to come. Warn your father that she is human and for everyone to keep away. We'll be there to help. I'm pretty sure she'll go." He said in a soft tone. I sat up and faced him sitting crossed legged. "You think she'll go?" I said looking at my hands. "Yes I'm pretty sure." He said coming to sit on the edge of my bed. "I'm glad we're friends. I hope you find your mate soon." I said grabbing his hand and giving him a small squeeze. He smiled and nodded. "She'll love you soon enough Leila, give it time." He said laying back beside my legs. "You're changing the subject. Why?" I said looking at him. "I found her." He said softly. I smiled hard. "That's great New! Who is it?!" I started to bounce up and down. "Umm its uh..." He said looking away. "What's wrong?" I said now worried, Cole was an amazing guy. If I wasn't a lesbian I would have wanted him to be my mate. He was always so caring and sweet. "It's Mia..." He whispered, gripping his hands. "It's like she doesn't feel it! I hug her but it's like she doesn't recognize me as her Mate Leila! What the Fuck!" He growled getting up and punching a wall. I got up and hugged him. He struggled for a bit till he started to shake, tears were soaking my shirt. His wolf must be feeling the pain. "Why haven't you said Anything? I know she'll accept you." I whispered low enough for only him to hear. "I don't know how to tell her, what if she thinks something is Wrong with her? What if she rejects me? What if..." I cut him off by hushing him with my index finger. "She won't do that. Maybe she'll think that the bond is faint because she can't shift but over time it'll grow. Everything will be Okay." I smiled.
