Chapter 13

*3rd POV*

     The drive was fairly quiet. No one said a word, fearing that Sage would lash out. The thing about Sage was that, she was cruel & vicious. But cared for her pack mates. Leila was different, she was more care free and out spoken. She held her head high and to some extent demanded respect. Sage demanded Respect at all times. It was rare the occasion that Sage would take over. But now that her mate has been marked by her, she'll do anything to protect her. Even marking her.
       Mia looked out the window, thinking of how everything was going to play out. She knew Leila would have to explain what they all were but River could still reject her. She didn't even want to Begin what would happen. The pain that it would cause her BestFriend. She kept looking out the window till she saw through the rear mirror, Cole sitting in the back. She wanted to be next to him. Always. She smiled at the thought. She wished he were her mate. But she knew she could get involved with him. The minute he found his mate, he'd leave her. Heartbroken and Alone. She prayed to the Moon Goddess that her wolf will show up. But Ever so slowly her hope was gone. But she'll never admit it to anyone. Not even Leila.

The ride was Torturous for the 2 of them. Till Cole couldn't take it anymore. Clearing his throat he broke the silence, "So Leila, how are you feeling?" He said looking at the back of her head. She looked at him through the rear mirror. "I'm fine. Why?" She asked looking up ahead. They were entering the highway. "Well you just Marked her, aren't you missing her?" He wanted to Know why she did it. "Yes I miss her, but we will only be there for today. We'll come back tomorrow." She said gripping the steering wheel. Mia looked at her & moved away a bit. "But you said she Isn't allowed to leave for 4 days?" He argued. "I know, her body will go in heat tomorrow or the following day. I will need to be there." She said ending the discussion. She had to make this meeting quick. The heat would come & River being human wouldn't survive it alone. With that in Mind she sped through cars. The twins and Elijah hot on her trail trying to keep up. They knew not to provoke her. "How long till we get there?" Mia asked stretching a bit. "15mins." She replied and kept driving.

Leila hated being back at her old home. Her father was waiting for her in front of the door of a huge mansion. She never saw a point to why he needed a big house only for his new wife and step brother. Her mother after she found out that he was with someone, disappeared. Leila parked in front with the 2 cars behind her parking as well. The entrance had a circular Fountain in the middle. Easy to drive in and out. She stepped out with the rest of the guys. She walked up to her father. Everyone stayed behind just a bit. This was an Alpha vs Alpha moment. But they knew in some sense her Father would always win. "Leila, glad you can make it. You remember Mathew right?" He pointed to her Step Brother. Her eyes darkened, growling a bit at him. He cowards away a bit but tried not to show it. Cole and Elijah smirked catching on. The twins rolled their eyes and Mia stood next to Leila ignoring him. "Of course. How can I Not. How about a rematch?" She growled a bit. His eyes widened a bit but couldn't back down. "Whenever?" His voice shook. Sounding more like a question then anything. Her father lead them into the house, "Your group can go and make them selfs at home while we discuss things." Her father walked ahead making a turn into his office. Leila looked at them, "Go. I'll let you know if anything happens." Her voice sounded hoarse. Elijah came up to her placing his hand on her shoulder, "Sage or Leila?" He said with caution. "Leila, I'm trying to get my control back." She growled a bit. She walked away leaving them behind. "That's going to be one Hell of a Meeting." Cole said. Everyone agreed.

*Leila's POV*

      What my wolf had done was not what I wanted to do at the moment. But when she acted like that towards us, I felt disrespected. I was angry at my wolf but she wanted to Mark her since day one. In some sense I understood. But now, her mother will probably explain it to her. I knew this meeting was going to be Long. Longer then we thought.
     Entering his office everything looked the Same. A wall full on books of our ancient history. A glass double door by the left side with his desk in front of it. As Always his desk scattered with papers and his computer and laptop on top. In the center he had 2 couches facing each other with a small long table in between. He had a bottle of what I think is Bourbon and 2 glasses for each other. He was sitting facing me. Meaning I had to sit with my back facing the door. Walking towards my seat I sat and looked at the papers on the table, "Father, so many papers everywhere." I looked around. "Yes well when you're the Alpha, you deal with Pack business." He said pour each of us a glass. "Cheers." He said as we tapped our glass and drank it's contains. It burned my throat but I showed no emotion. "Alright, down to business. Rogues are becoming a problem. Not just for Me but the neighboring pack as well. They leave trails of bodies everywhere..." He said as he looked at some papers he picked up. "Meaning they are raising awareness of our kind to the humans." I said. Some files where open of the bodies found. "How many from our pack?" I said looking at the files. My father smiled a bit, "you said "Our" , well right Now...9." He growled. I looked at him surprised. "I believe it's someone within our pack letting them in. Our paroles are higher then ever but they manage to sneak by.." He said running his hand through his hair. He looked tired, worn out. "Meaning there's a mole." I said. "Exactly. I'm not sure who it can be. But I'm working on it." He kept looking at each file. It was painful to loose members of your pack. The connection with them is broken, the lost of a mate if they were mates would be unbearable. Many don't survive with out them. Others that do because just a shell of a person. Living each day with no purpose. It's uncalled for, for mates to have a 2nd chance of a mate. But not impossible.
"So father, what is your plan then. Clearly someone is trying to pass as if they were smarter then you." I said looking at the files. A child, was taken from her backyard in a late afternoon. She was days later found but in an unpleasant way. Her body was dismembered and sent piece by piece. "That's the Sanders family. Their only daughter taken & killed. They demand these rogues killed." He said with sadness lacing his voice. "I wouldn't want anything Less father." He looked at me and stood walking up to the window. Looking at the green scenery of the forest. "I do have a plan but you May or May not like it." He spoke. His voice full of Authority. I stood up and faced him. The alpha in me wanting to come out and help these people. I was a born alpha. "To the Pack, you will be the Appointed New alpha. To them I would step down and You take my Place. The Mole wouldn't know you so I assume he or she would back down for a Bit. In the mean time I would be in the background watching. I will still take the responsibilities except..." He didn't need to finish. "I would be the New Alpha. For temporary means." I said. "Yes, you can bring your mate. Make her the New Luna. You were born for this. A true Queen. The ground you walk, people bow down to you. I never said this, nor did I ever show it... But you were and Still are a True Born Alpha Queen." He said looking at me with full sincerity. "Of course father. I accept your offer. I will choose my beta now." He nodded and waited as he held his glass. "Cole, I need you in my Father's office. Now and Alone." I mind linked him. This was a turn of events. And now I had to take my Little mate away from her family. I'm not sure how she would react...
