Chapter 20

        I couldn't describe what was going through my mind. Anger, disappointment, Hurt most of all. I was angry that my own sick mother was doing this to innocent people. i was disappointed in the fact that my own best friend had betrayed me like that, and i was hurt that my mate didn't want me. I knew i wasn't a good mate to her. I had forced her to come into my own world and that wasn't the way it should have been done. But that didn't excuse the fact that my own mate hurt me. I couldn't tell her what was going on. I couldn't put her in danger, it would have killed me to see her in the face of danger. I had to do something to protect her. And what i was thinking my wolf wouldn't like it.

      I was in my office with my father, Elijah and waiting for Cole to get back. "Where is he?" I asked looking out the window. The sky was dark still. But in a few hours the sun will rise. "No one knows, his mind link is blocked and no one has seen him." Elijah said looking at some papers. "Send a search team, find him and bring him here. Now." my father ordered a guard that was in with us. "What are you thinking of?" Elijah said looking at me. "I'm thinking of sending River to...Jasmine. The daughter of the Light Mountain pack..." was all i said before they looked at me like i was crazy and my wolf snarl at me "Why would you do that for?!" my wolf growled at me. "Last time i checked we rejected her and now you want to question what i do with her? I can't send her home, it would be too dangerous and i know that bitch will protect her at all cost. i cant keep her safe her. We can't. My mother is cruel and could hurt her right under our noses."  Was all i said to my wolf and shutting her out, and for Elijah to stand up. "Why can't you just move her to the pack house?" he said looking at me with concern. Something that i didn't need. "I can't keep her safe here. And she would be much more happier over there with her then here with me." was all i said. Cole walked in, catching us by surprised. He looked beat up, had scratch marks all over his body. Had a beard growing and had this empty look in his face. My heart hurt for him. But as the Alpha i had to keep up my strength for this pack and River. "Cole, i know who has been doing all this. And i need to know what you are going to do about Mia." I said trying to hold back the anger. Cole looked at me and his eyes were empty, filled with hurt and anger as well. "Do what you want with her, i don't care." he said sitting down taking a glass and filling it up with bourbon. He downed it down and started to fill another glass. "I'm planning to send them both then, to the Light Mountain Pack." i said excepting for him to have a reaction but got none. Just a simple nod. I sighed looking at the glass of bourbon on my desk, and thought might as well do it now.

With that in mind I made a move to leave with Elijah, my Father and Cole behind holding a glass of bourbon, to go to the clinic and tell them the news. It would be the first time seeing her and i knew my wolf was hurt but still wanted her mate. And deep down...so did i.

Walking there the pack was all inside their homes, no one was out. Everyone was quiet. It was eerie. But held my head up high. My mind kept swirling with things that could happen if they stayed here. I guess I was making excuses to not have her around. Not realizing we were in front of the clinic everyone had stepped in except my father. "You don't have to send her away. Your step mother and I can watch for her." He said. His voice was with no emotion. But I knew he cared a little. "Hm" was all I said before stepping in. I could smell her. My wolf instantly coming alive. It was hard to hold her back. She wanted her mate. Cole seemed the same, he was shaking. I knew he felt the pull of his mate. The Moon Goddess punishing us for going against her will. We stood in front of their door. Till the doctor came. "Alpha, Beta. If you are here to cause stress on them I suggest you leave. This is a clinic and they are my patients. Their needs come first." Was all he said looking at us, trying to seize us up. He would put up a good fight. But he wouldn't win. "We are here just to deliver some news. Nothing more." Was all my father said. Angry that the doctor spoke to us the way he did. I understood him, he cared for his patients and wanted them at peace. The doctor didn't shy away, this was his territory. But I could see his conflict. "Let us in." Was all I said for him to nod and step aside.

It took my breath away seeing here the way she is. She was face down with her back exposed. Her red meat was just covered with bandages wrapping around her. Her hair looked matted and skin pale. I caused this. I turned my head when my father placed his large hand on my shoulder. It was small a encouragement. I cleared my throats and I seen her open her eyes and realized who it was. They had no emotion. I was taken back but kept my face impassive. "You'll be leaving here most likely tomorrow." I said. Her eyes brighten up a bit, "You're sending me to my moms?" Her voice filled with hope. She didn't realize that I was about to crush them... "No. You'll be heading to my fathers place. It's outside of our land." I said showing her my decision is final. That's when she lost it. "No! No! I don't want anything to do with these people! Send me home! Please! Let me go!" She screamed hysterical the blood seeped through the bandages as she screamed and pulled on the restrains on her hands. I grabbed the nape of her neck, made her look at me. My eyes charcoal black showing her my wolf was out. She stopped moving, the doctor came in but was stopped by my father. "It'll be good for you, you'll understand our traditions and how I grew up... please. Give it a chance." She was mesmerized by my eyes, how Sage still had power over her. She whimpered at my touch. I knew she felt it. Cause I know I did. "I'm so sorry.." was all I said before the doctor pushed me aside and started to examine her. I couldn't look anymore. So I left the room. Cole was just outside Mia's room. Tears were pouring out of his eyes. I knew he loved her...
"Do you want me to give her the news?" I said gently putting my hand on his shoulder. He nodded going to sit, placing his head in between his hands. I looked at him in pain, because I felt the same. But I couldn't show up, I had to be strong. Walking in Mia was struggling with her restraints. "Leila? Oh god, I'm so sorry! Please I know that what River and me were doing was wrong but you 2 didn't give us any time! Didn't even tell us what was going on, please I'm your BestFriend, I'm..." I cut her rambling off with a growl. "It's Alpha Leila to you. And if you would have been Patient with us we would have told you what was Going on. But you betrayed Cole. Your Mate. All he ever Wanted was to protect you from what's going on! You betrayed me!" I yelled punching the wall by me. Everyone heard it and I could hear my father stopping the doctor from coming in. "Me... Your BestFriend. I stood by you for a lot and this is how you repay me. By taking my mate to bars and other places and talking about us, behind my back! Your betrayal hurt the most!" I growled barely controlling my wolf, she wanted to be let out. But I had to hold her back. "The reason I came here is to tell you and River will be going to my Fathers home. You and her are staying there till I give Orders to deal with you two." I growled out in anger. She looked at me with sadness swirling in her eyes and just looked away. I walked out and looked at Cole. "Are you going in?" I said looking at him. "No." He said getting up and taking a swing at the bottle in his hand. "I don't have a mate anymore." And with that he Left.
