11) Xavier

Claire-

Claire woke up to a commotion outside. It's too early for this. She got out of bed and slipped her slippers on and a sweater. She didn't care about the messy hair; she wanted to sleep.

Skyler wasn't in the room. Where is he?

She opened the balcony doors and stomped out. "Hey!" She checks the time. "It's four in the morning!! The sun hasn't even risen! Shut up!"

"She's not a morning person, is she?"

She looked down and blushed. She didn't mean to yell at Saito's family. She's embarrassed.

"Yeah, shut up!" Luna said she was on the balcony, two windows down. "It's four in the fucking morning! What's going on?!"

Claire smiled.

"A suspicious man was sleeping on the roof," Saito growled.

Skyler groaned. "He's not suspicious; he's Claire's brother."

Claire squinted her eyes and gasped. "Big brother!" She jumps off the balcony, forgetting her wings haven't grown back. "Catch me!"

Xavier lifted off the ground and caught her. "Did you forget you couldn't fly her? Skyler filled me in on everything."

"Xavier," she cried and hugged him. "I miss you so much," she has genuinely missed her brothers. "Where are Sam and Erick?"

"I miss you too, little dove," he said. "And Sam and Erick couldn't come.*

"Why not?" She asks.

"They had things to do," he's lying. Why is he lying?

"Okay," she smiles. "I'll go and get change." She went upstairs. Saito followed her.

"This was sudden," Saito glared. "I expected to meet my future brother-in-law."

Claire smiled. "Me either."

She quickly got dressed in front of Saito. He wasn't touching this time, maybe because her brother was downstairs.

"Did you invite him in?"

"I wasn't going to, but yes," he said.

She kissed his cheek and went into the bathroom. She can't wait to see Sam and Erick. For now, she will hang out with Xavier.

She went downstairs; Xavier sat on the kitchen table with Anita. A plate of food sat in front of him. She forgets how tall he is.

"Eat," Anita smiled.

By now, everyone was awake. Sapphire was in a bad mood today; shes not a morning person. She turned to Xavier and reached for him. Sarah carefully inched closer to make sure Sapphire wouldn't do something.

And Sarah was right to keep Sapphire at arm's length. When Sapphire was near Xavier, she reached for his hair to yank at it. Sarah moved away quickly, stumbling back, almost falling. Taylor caught her.

"Someone's grumpy," Xavier said. "I apologize for waking you up."

Sapphire nuzzled her mother's chest.

"So early," Demitri yawned.

Xavier apologized to everyone. Luna glared and poured herself some coffee.

Everyone sat down to eat and talk. Saito's family interrogates Xavier. It was nice seeing Xavier quickly adapt to the family. Then again, he's good at adapting.

"Sapphire, what's wrong?" Sarah was struggling to keep Sapphire still. "Does something hurt?"

Xavier chuckled. "She's uncomfortable; I believe her tail is getting squash."
