Claire-

It felt awkward.

She was having breakfast with Saito's family. It's nerve-wracking. She wasn't sure how to act. Waking up to an empty bed didn't help. Saito had gotten up much earlier than him. Something happened that needed his immediate attention.

Claire must get used to this; Saito is an alpha. His job is to protect his clan. And her job is to assist him.

"Question, do you eat meat?" Anita held some sausages.

"Yes," why does everyone assume the gods and angels don't eat meat? It's a dumb assumption. The humans have become so corrupted, lies up lies. The Bible isn't even accurate anymore; the authentic Bible is —lost to the universe.

Men rewrote the Bible, putting fear in the humans. She shook her head. No, she won't get into that. It'll upset many humans.

"All right then," Anita smiled. "I wanted to make sure." Anita set two sausages on her plate.

"Thank you," they all watched her take a bite. It's like they were confirming it. "It's good."

Luna smirk. "Nice, anyways, I better get going. Satio will drop you off at the plaza. We can go shopping. You'll need new clothes."

Claire nodded.

Luna kissed her parents and Sapphire, who was gnawing on the sausage and dipping it in syrup.

After Luna left, Saito entered. He looked a little upset.

"Has something happened?" Anita asked.

"Mr. Ian has passed away," he cursed. "He told me something very upsetting. And then he took his last breath."

"What did he tell you?" Draven asked. "Does it concern Luna or Sapphire?"

Saito sat and drank some coffee. "He told me about a girl. She stayed with him and his wife for five years. She was a newborn when her father left her in their care. This girl, she was evil. He said she's back. She visited him and told him she was going to protect Lucy."

"That doesn't sound good," Draven said. "It's almost implying something else."

"Mr. Ian believes this girl is Lucy's mother's," he sighed.

"It's like a similar situation with Senna and Luna," Anita said.

Saito groaned. "I didn't tell you this, but we found summoning circles scattered along our woods. Linda sends someone to close them. She wanted to come but couldn't. Anyway, that's not the worst part. Hunters. I encounter hunters. And after confronting them, I managed to capture them. But one of them got killed. Some unforeseen force lifted him off the ground and ripped him in half. They didn't like that the hunters were back."

Claire fumbled with the cup of juice, and it fell; juice spilled on the floor. She quickly grabbed some napkins. "Sorry."

Are the hunters back? That's not good. Zeus had the hunters eradicated. They are immortal humans with extraordinary strength and abilities. But they don't have a heart. They must only hunt down those who have gone rogue. If they disobey, they die by a squeeze of their hearts. That is how Zeus controlled the hunters. It's how they were all killed unless Zeus lied.

If they are back, it'll complicate things. Claire winced and pulled back. "Hmm."

"Claire," Saito haul her up. "Where you not listening to me?"

She zoned out again; this has happened for a long. She looked at her hand; she wasn't aware she had cut herself. Her blood isn't like the rest of the angels. Gold. Instead, it's a metallic red. A mixture of red and gold, it has a lovely color to it.
