Saito-
It happened again for the third time. Saito has failed. He failed to protect her.
Returning home to find her missing and a note that she had gone out. Saito wasn't to worry about it, but Gina had escaped, and there could be intruders. Saito had gone out to look for her only to find intruders. Saito sensed them, two of them Saito didn't recognize, but one he did, Gina. Saito feared the worst, and he was right.
What he found was a scene from a horror movie. Claire lay on her back, blood all around her, laying in a puddle of her blood. Three knives stuck out from different parts of her body: her side, her chest, and her eyes. Her throat got slit and stabbed multiple times. Saito thought she was dead, but she flinched.
He had immediately gone to her. She had more injuries, minor scratches, and bruises. He had tried to stop the bleeding, but there was so much. He called for help, and Dale arrived.
From there, everything was blank. Saito was numb and did everything the clan doctor asked him to do. Claire's brother was enraged and demanded Gina's head. He permitted them, even though he knew they would've killed Gina.
But they didn't; they found Gina in a ditch; she had been—decapitated. It seems the intruders only wanted to use Gina.
"Take her body," Saito said. "Ask James or her family what they want to do with the body."
Dale nodded and left.
"How bad is it?" Xavier asked.
"I'm not sure," Saito slid out of his shirt. "The doctor and Sarah."
Saito frowned. Sam and Erick were whispering among each other. They mention Claire and someone else.
"What?" Saito frowned. "Why do you keep bringing up Claire?" Erick and Sam look at Xavier. Something is wrong. "Spill it."
Xavier kept his mouth shut.
"It's best if we tell him everything," Sam said.
"Yup," Erick sat on the chair. "Tell him."
"I'll start from the very beginning," Xavier said.
What could be so bad that they look so severe?
They sat in silence for quite some time. It seems Xavier is having an issue starting the conversation. It must be a serious topic. But Saito doesn't have time for this. Either he tells him or not.
"Spill it!" He frowned.
"My father hates Claire," Xavier said.
"Yes, we know that," Saito said.
"Now we know why," he said. "Because Claire isn't his daughter."
"Get to it!" Erick said. "Stop dragging it on! Tell him how our father has arranged a marriage for Claire!"
Saito felt his blood boil.
"I wasn't going to tell him that!" Xavier groaned. "There is something else he must know, some you two must know. I'm sorry. I am sorry for keeping this truth from you two. From Claire."
Sam and Erick frowned. What could be worse than an arranged marriage?
Sam glared. "You know who Claire's father is, don't you? You know what happened to our mother?"
"Xavier, what did you do?" Erick said.
Xavier faces away from them. He looked conflicted and guilty.
"Mom had a soulmate before she married our father; she only got married to our father because mom didn't have a choice, and then she had us," he told them. "Growing up, I could tell how miserable our mother was. She hated our father, and one day, when I was eighteen, our mother left; she was gone for quite some time."
