Claire-

Claire didn't predict this outcome.

The plan was going smoothly. Claire and Skyler set a bush on fire to cause the distraction. Everyone was so busy trying to put out the fire. They didn't notice Taylor sneaking into the cathedral. Lunic's body gets moved beneath the cathedral after sunset, so it wasn't easy to get inside. But Taylor is a good lock picker. He pried those gates open with such ease.

It was going smoothly; Taylor had just gotten to the glass coffin when there was a little giggle—the giggle of a toddler.

"Fucking hell," Taylor cursed in a low voice.

She was with Taylor while Skyler kept a watchful eye outside. To their surprise, Sapphire crawled out from under a table. She giggles and crawls towards Taylor.

"Dada?"

"Her first word," Taylor smiled. "Shit, Sapphire."

"Shyt!" She repeated.

Claire covers her mouth.

"No, no," Taylor groaned. "Sapphire, we don't say bad words."

"Shyt!"

He groaned. "Claire?"

Claire picked up Sapphire. "She can't control it?"

"No," Taylor worked on the coffin. "She keeps following me or Sarah around. My father is working on a bracelet for her, something that'll keep her powers in check."

Claire held Sapphire, her winds twitching from anticipation; this was nerve-wracking. They didn't expect a fourth party. Especially not Sapphire.

Taylor finally opened the coffin, only for an alarm to go off. There are chains drenched in holy water—actual holy water. So someone from above knows about Lunic's body. Taylor wasn't bothered by the sacred water, although his hand sizzled when he ripped those chains off. He picked up Lunic's body and winced. Her whole body was holy. Someone went to extreme measures to protect her body. Claire is grateful, but did they fear a demon would come and get her?

"I can't take Sapphire," Taylor groaned; holes were burning into his clothes and skin. "Tell Skyler to teleport. I know he can do it. Go!"

They heard footsteps and voices. Taylor teleported away with Lunic. Claire held Sapphire close and flew out. The humans were staring in awe. Some of them fell to their knees and were praying to God.

Claire shouldn't have exposed herself to the humans. But she didn't have a choice. Outside, Claire thought it was safe. But she was dead wrong. The police had arrived and firefighters. They were trying to extinguish the fire that had expanded to the rest of the bushes.

She felt a tap on her left shoulder. She looks down, and blood oozes out of her shoulder. Did someone shoot her? She looked down and saw shiny things coming her way. Bullets. These humans can be so paranoid when it comes to the unknown.

She kept Sapphire tightly against her chest and used her wings as a fan. Some of the bullets lost momentum and dropped into the burning bushes, which caused little explosions. And three of them hit her wings. She turned around as more bullets came her way. She felt the impact against her wings. It's painful.

She heard the priest yelling at the police to stop shooting. They were yelling about her being an angel. It was a loud commotion. She took that opportunity to fly away. Her right wing started to go numb, and she began to lose balance.

She fell and fell, going through the tree. The branches scratched her. She landed in the lake. Not good; her wings were sensitive, and water could easily damage them. Aside from that, they were soaked. She crawled out of the lake. Her left wing felt heavy, and the other one numb.
