12) It Begins

Xavier-

He didn't find him, he searched all, but he couldn't find Skyler. He feared the worst.

"Sapphire, it's all right; Skyler will be back," Sarah wiped her nose.

Claire was right; Sapphire and Skyler are soulmates. The kid hasn't stopped crying since Xavier told everyone about Skyler.

"Where could he be?" Claire sighed.

Xavier drank coffee. "I'm sure he's fine; we can't be negative."

Sapphire stopped crying and looked at the door. She almost jumped off Sarah's lap. Sarah set her down, and, surprise, Sapphire walked. She shuffles toward the door.

Everyone gasped and immediately captured the moment in a video.

The door opened, and Skyler stepped in. Sapphire hugs his leg. "Sapphire?" Skyler picked her up. "What's wrong?"

Sapphire sniffled. "Gone?"

"Who's gone?" Skyler looks up. "Who is gone?"

"You," Claire huffed. "Where have you been?"

"I went for a walk," he said. "I was at the cabin, the one by the border. Luna said I could stay there if I wanted to be alone."

"I couldn't sense you," Xavier glared.

"Barrier," Luna said. "My mother, Senna, had it placed."

Demitri grinned. "It's a good hideout."

Xavier sighed. "I thought my father had taken you."

"Sorry," Skyler groaned. "I didn't mean to make you all worry. By the way, I passed by a girl; she smelled of rot. I think one of those miserable angels has possessed her body."

"We know," Xavier said. "It seems she's letting herself be known."

Skyler sat on the chair. "Shouldn't you go capture her?"

"Let's see what she wants, or he," Xavier stood. "It could be a male angel possessing her."

Saito stood. "I have work, Claire. I'll see you later." He kissed her, and Xavier turned away. It's weird watching a man kiss his sister. "Have fun with your brother."

Luna stood. "Demitri, must you go?"

"I do; I have to finish over home," he smiled. "I'll call you when I'm home. Denny, Jack?"

"Ready," Denny smiled. "Thank you for your hospitality. We'll be back for Christmas. And New Years."

Xavier stayed back, letting them say their goodbyes. Soon, everyone went off to do their thing.

He went with Luna and Claire to Luther's castle. Skyler stays back with Sapphire.

The castle is impressive. It must've been a fortune to rebuild it. Xavier looked around as they went down the hall to an underground dungeon. Or basement.

It's a basement renovated to look more decent. It's huge. The bigger room is a lounge slash game room with retro games and new games. It's like an arcade. The next room is a theater with comfortable seating. Then there's the kitchen slash bar. Candy dispensers, a popcorn machine, a cotton candy machine, anything one would find at a theater. There are bedrooms and bathrooms. It's nice. Luther is giving his family a life of luxury. And Claire is part of his family, too.

At the end of the hall is an odd-looking door—a vault. Luther used a unique key to open it—magic.

The door opened, and they stepped into an endless treasure room. There are coins to paintings and even a fucking gold angel statue.
