A/N:
This is an idea I've played around with for a while, I'm planning for it to have multiple parts because it was originally a fanfiction and not an imagine. Hopefully it turns out as well as I conceptualize it to be. The * signifies memories, just to let you know.

I woke up in my bedroom, sprawled across the satin sheets adorning my bed. I couldn't remember anything that had happened last night, and I had a killer headache, so I assumed my night had been "epic," as my friend David would describe it. Like any other morning, I got up, brushed my teeth, and ran my fingers through my short hair before stumbling down the grand staircase and dragging my feet to the kitchen.
"Hey," I mumbled to the slumping figure sitting at the long, empty table.
"Chess?" He asked, turning quickly to look at me.
"It's too early, Jefferson, my brain doesn't work in the morning. Especially after last night," I complained. He looked about to cry, and turned back to his breakfast.
"Look, I really enjoy playing with you after work, but I can't remember what happened last night, apparently I had a crazy birthday party, and you know that I can't function without at least three cups of coffee," I tried to console him.
"Of course, Kitty. I'll see you after work, then," Jefferson replied stiffly. I took three aspirin and meandered back upstairs to get ready for my shift at the hospital.

* "I'll be home after I finish my work," Jefferson says, smiling at you, then he turns to Grace and hugs her. "Make sure she stays out of trouble, Chess," he joked before grabbing his sack and heading out to the forest. *

I gripped the doorknob tightly, shaking from the vision I had just seen. Jefferson, striding down the hall to his room, turned to look at me as he passed.
"Are you alright? You're shivering," he asked, gently grabbing my shoulder, worry etched into his features.
"Fine, I just, ah, remembered something," I whispered uncertainly. What the hell was that? I wondered.

"Hey, Kitty, you alright there? You seem a little distracted," joked Dr. Whale. I wasn't usually the type to slack off on the job.
"Yes, Doctor, I have just had a terrible headache all day. It's starting to go away, but dizziness is taking its place, but I'll be fine," I assured him. More visions had been plaguing me all day, and the more my headache went away, the more frequent they got.
"It seems to be going around, I guess, I couldn't shake mine this morning either," shrugged Dr. Whale. Hmm. Something's not right here... I pondered.

*"Pleasure doing business with you," a man's voice said, and then, "great, now I have to find someone to travel back with." The giant creature hiding you moved to face where the voice had come from.
"I happen to need someone to take something off my hands, and I think a deal might be beneficial to you," purred the Caterpillar smoothly.
"I need a companion, not an item," the voice replied sassily. Suddenly my eyes saw light as the Caterpillar moved his body to reveal his 'item'.
"What good will a kitten do me? I can't send it on its way on the other side of the hat," the voice snapped from the man's mouth.
"I can stay with you," my young voice rang out indignantly. "And my name is Chessur." *

"Chess..." I murmured. Jefferson's head snapped up from the hat he was working on and his piercing blue eyes stared into mine.
"Chess." He whispered back.
