Happy Birthday, Sweetheart

Good evening, Lovelies! I was in the mood for a birthday story because mine was last weekend. Enjoy!

Sunlight poured through the bay window, rays making mottled patterns on the walls and floor. Outside, a woodpecker could be heard pecking for his breakfast. A sudden weight on your arm forced you awake, and you smiled before opening your eyes.
    "Loxley, of all the places on the bed you could have chosen, you picked my arm?" You teased the dog, who just licked your nose in response. You pulled your arm out from under her and stretched, hearing the box spring creak beneath you.
    "Chris, we need a new box spring!" You shouted, not sure where in the house he was. You heard a muffled shout back, but you couldn't understand what he'd said. You just smiled again and looked at the calendar. Your eyes landed on today's date, and you leapt out of bed, scaring Loxley. It's my birthday! I wonder what Chris has planned... You thought.
    "Hurry up and shower, we don't have all day to get ready," Chris commented, his head poking through the doorway.
    "I'm going, I'm going, jeez," you teased him, sticking out your tongue.
After a quick breakfast, Chris hurried you out the door.
    "Wait, who's watching Loxley while we're out?" You asked, worried.
    "Sweetheart, you're not allowed to worry today. Just trust me," Chris replied with a grin.

    "What, are you taking me across the state? Jeez," you complained, after the second hour in the car.
    "Relax, we've only got ten more minutes to go," Chris promised. Soon, signs started showing up all along the side of the highway. It was only two minutes before arrival that you realized where Chris was taking you.
    "Wait, you brought us to Disneyland!? I've always wanted to go! This is the best birthday present ever!" You squealed excitedly and started bouncing up and down. Chris laughed and took his hand off the wheel to hold yours.
    "I love you. Happy Birthday, Sweetheart."
