A/N:
Almost 600 reads, guys! So exciting! Thanks to everyone who's reading, and also to those supporting me. I decorated for Christmas today, so sorry if it's trash, but I'm inspired. Love you all, thanks, and enjoy!

[A few months have passed. Kitty has been searching for August but has had no luck finding him thus far, and Regina has been busy with figuring out motherhood.]
"Hey, David, can you help me bring in our tree later? Jefferson won't be home and I hate to admit that I am not as strong as I act sometimes," I joke.
"Of course, Kitty. I know you won't agree with me, but I get angry at Jefferson sometimes, leaving you to do everything yourself. You deserve more, you know," David says, wrapping his arm around me protectively.
"David! He's shy and introverted, sure, but he helps me more than you think. And he has every right to want to avoid town. Regina is out and about more, and she's the last person he wants to see. He was working for her when his daughter disappeared... Anyway, I wish you wouldn't be so hard on Jefferson. He's the only family I have and I don't know what I'd do without him," I reprimand David. "And he won't be there today because he has a doctor's appointment for his PTSD. Give him some slack."
"I'm sorry, Kitty. I just worry about the two of you. Hopefully the holidays will get your spirits up," David replies apologetically. I smile weakly.
"3pm for the tree, then?"

"Kitty, what is a pine tree doing in our living room?" Jefferson calls loudly from the other room. From the kitchen, I yell back, "It is a tradition in this realm. I was waiting for you to come back to decorate it." I turn on the radio and carry it with me to the living room. "The ornaments are there, on the table."
"What is this music?" Jefferson asks, laughing. Jingle Bell Rock is playing on the radio. I shrug and start picking ornaments to decorate the tree with. As I'm hanging a blue orb on a higher branch, I start moving with the beat. I hear Jefferson giggling behind me.
"What? It's catchy and I haven't danced in a long time. It feels good," I defend.
"I didn't say anything," Jefferson promises, coming up behind me and taking my right hand in his left one. He turns me around and moves my left hand to his shoulder, then puts his right hand on my waist. "Now, dance with me." The two of you start to move to the music, spinning and swaying and laughing.
*Jefferson pulled me close, and we danced with the other couples in the circle. A young couple had been married in the village, and the whole town had been invited to attend. Jefferson thought it best for me to take a human form, as having a cat in the wedding procession was, well, unconventional. I had never danced before, and Jefferson was having a wonderful time teaching me.*
"Remember the wedding, where you taught me to dance? I'd never seen you so happy, excepting your tea parties with Grace," I murmur, still dancing slowly with Jefferson. The song changes again and again, and with it your dances change.
"I think I understand now why this is a common tradition. We should do this more often," I sigh.
"Happy Holidays, Chess," Jefferson sighs back happily. "Now let's decorate this tree."
