Chapter 13:
The next two days were uneventful though. Eat-sleep-march-each….you get the point. We didn’t talk much, and when we did it was short and to the point, no extra fluff or flattery. By the time we made it to the gap of whatever we were in a very good mood. We stopped and set up camp in some rocks – sort of like a knocked over Stonehenge from modern day earth. The sun shone brightly in the sky – and there wasn’t a cloud in site, for the first time in days. I reclined against one of the rocks as the others cooked sausages, bacon! I was doing a little internal dance! No Lembas bread! I was sick to death of that stuff.
Note: Internal dancing is when you see yourself dancing in your head, and when you are really excited and or singing.
We just relaxed for a while, and ate sausages and bacon. And actually I was content. Even though I was filthy, exhausted, and still hungry, it was………nice.
After I finished up I took my plate and out it by the fire. The Hobbits weren’t doing much actually just lazing around on the rocks.
“Get up you lumps!” – I told them cheerfully. Not nastily, but sort of…..friend like.
They all jumped to their feet and stood in front of me.
“Who wants to have a sword fight?” – I asked them, grinning. I was back to feeling top, and healthier then I had ever felt. Maybe I should add, ‘Battling evil blood thirsty Orc’s’ onto my weekly exercise plan when I got back. If I got back.
The Hobbits drew their swords sort of clumsily, but still pretty fast……for a Hobbit. J
I had mine out faster though, and was swiping at them, up-down-left and right! Dodge, block, lunge – parry!
“No! No! No!” – I heard someone say in an exasperated voice.
Boromir strutted over, and actually took the sword from me.
“I will show you how to wield this weapon, properly.” – he told me, enunciating ‘properly’.
“Give it back!” – I whined childishly, trying to snatch it from him.
He just smiled widely, and held it just out of my reach. How does he do that? We are the same height, or about the same height, maybe an inch in difference.
I jumped into the air, but he just switched it into his other hand.
Merry and Pippin charged him, and Pippin kicked him in the shin.
He fell backwards waving his arms, and laughing.
“For the Shire!” – they called.
“Hold him down, Merry!” – Pippin commanded Merry.
Boromir couldn’t get up because of the Hobbits holding him down.
I smiled widely at this turn of events and snatched my sword back from his hand.
“Naughty boy!” – I chided him jokingly.
He was laughing to hard to look mad though.
Suddenly I looked up at the sky, and saw a small black cloud moving towards us.
‘Spy’s of Saruman!” – I yelled, pulling the Hobbits to their feet. “From Dunland! Hide!”
The others scrambled around not really doing anything. I put out the fire, and threw them their packs. Then I stuffed them into hiding places.
I looked around wildly. Shit. Where was Boromir?
I couldn’t see him anywhere. I looked around wildly, but he was no where in sight.
