Isla's POV
I was sat in a carriage next to skip, Sierra and Luke sat opposite, the carriage in front had Beau and Shay, the one behind had James, Veronica and Jai. As we plunged into darkness, I squeezed Skip's hand tightly, "scared?" he whispered patronisingly and laughed as I nudged him. I wasn't a fan of the dark, not even in the slightest, most of my life had been dark. I heard Shay scream and knew that something unpleasant was coming, before I could prepare myself a fake corpse swung between the seats and I screamed, just as loud as Shay had. I dug my head into Skips chest and kept my eyes tightly closed for the rest of the ride, listening to the other girls scream. I felt the light from outside hit against my eyelids and opened my eyes to see Sierra in the exact same position, whilst Luke and Skip laughed. "It's not funny!" I stuck my bottom lip out and pouted. Skip lifted my head up and kissed my lips, I would never, ever, get bored of those lips brushing against mine, they made me feel alive.
We climbed out of the carriage and the nine of us made our way to the stalls, "I'm starved!" Skip moaned. I laughed as it had been less than two hours since we'd had a full English breakfast, "Yala ana bahib al laham kitheer!" he began singing as we passed a halal meat store and the man behind the stall nodded and laughed. The rest of us laughed as the man tried to to sell some sort of halal meat product to Skip, which he eventually gave in to and walked away with a kebab in one hand and an exotic fruit drink, with red bull, in the other. Beau, Jai and Veronica bought Chinese noodles, James and Luke settled on burgers and Sierra and I queued up to buy pancakes. "I'll be right back." Skip said cheekily, holding around my waist and he kissed my cheek, leaving me a a third wheel with Sierra and Luke. We ordered our pancakes and walked back towards the others, Skip, Beau and Shay had disappeared, none of the others had any idea where they had gone so we sat patiently on a wall waiting for them. Half an hour passed and there was still no sign of them, Sierra and Luke had gone to look at some other stalls, Veronica and James had gone to ride the waltzers, which just left Jai and I waiting. Suddenly Jai's phone rang and he jumped up excitedly, "Ariana?" I asked and he nodded, grinning like a small child. He put one finger up, indicating he would be back soon and walked behind the stalls so he could hear his girlfriend properly. I felt two hands push my shoulders, making me stand and smiled, "Hello stranger." I laughed at Daniel, but as I turned around I wasn't greeted by those big brown eyes.
Skip's POV -
I walked around for half an hour with Beau and Shay, trying to find the perfect gift for Isla, there were stalls with so much tacky, tourist crap, but nothing that suited her. I'd already decided that the ferris wheel would be the perfect place to ask her to be my girlfriend again, when the sun was setting, so I still had a few hours. Suddenly out of the corner of my eye I saw a jewellery stand, not the type of jewellery you buy to take back to your family, this was expensive stuff. "Skip!" Shay nudged me and pointed to the same stall, I grinned and the three of us walked over. I didn't want to buy a ring, I was saving that until I proposed, which I was sure would happen one day. She had a locket that she wore all the time and I didn't want to replace that so I settled on a bracelet. It was a thin, silver chain and two small hearts dangled off it. I arranged to get each of our names engraved on the hearts, which I would have to collect in an hour. Beau patted my back proudly, "one more thing." I told him, remembering the candy floss I'd promised Isla earlier on. I took it from the woman at the sweet stall and we made our way back to where we'd left the others an hour earlier.
Beau and Shay stopped at a photo booth to take some pictures leaving me outside holding the giant pink elephant Beau had won for his girlfriend. I felt ridiculous, five minutes felt like two hours and I was anxious to get back to my own beautiful girlfriend. Eventually they reappeared, grinning and collected their photos. "come on cunt!" I urged Beau and we walked back, me still holding the elephant somehow. We approached the wall, Jai was crying, being comforted James as Luke screamed something at him. "How could you just walk off and leave her?!" he yelled, leave who? Then I noticed everyone was there, except Isla. Sierra ran and hugged me, "she's gone Skip!" she cried, what did she mean by gone? "she's not answering her phone, she's left all her stuff here, it's not like her at all!" she cried into my shoulder. I was in shock, Isla never left her bag anywhere, even in her own house. "what happened?" I asked, frozen in fear that something had happened to the one person I loved more than anything. "Ariana called me, I stepped behind the stall for ten minutes, when u came bAck, she was gone. I'm so sorry Skip!" Jai cried.
"Jai, it's not your fault." I said reassuringly, no one could have predicted this would happen. Beau followed up this by telling Luke to grow up and leave his younger brother alone. Was Isla taken by someone or did she leave of her own accord? Benji was still in prison so he had no way of getting to Isla, yet she'd left her things here, which we all agreed was completely out of character. We couldn't phone the police until we were sure, I pulled out my phone and dialled her number, "come on Isla! Pick up?" I yelled in frustration and frowned.
Isla: Hey it's Isla, I'm obviously busy, lazy or my battery is dead so leave a message and I'll get back to you.
Skip: Isla where are you? We're all really worried about you. Please call me baby, I love you.
I hung up disappointed and even more worried than before, the sound of her British accent lingered in my mind and tears formed in my eyes. Sierra saw my distress and comforted me again, but I couldn't keep myself together, the tears escaped as I hunched over on the floor. I was surrounded by hundreds of people, I just hoped in the crowd I'd see my beautiful girlfriend. I ran along the busy streets, calling her name, Beau, Sierra and Luke with me, the others had gone to ask people at the stalls and rides. "fuuck!" I yelled out, knowing that we weren't going to find her. All I wanted at this moment in time was a pair of gloves and a punch bag, something to keep me sane. "Let's meet the others and go to her house?" Sierra suggested, "she might be there, it's worth a try!" she pleaded. On the way to meet the others I snuck off to pick up her bracelet, the only piece of hope I had of finding her.
Shay's POV -
I was worried sick about Isla, we hadn't known each other long, but she was the reason I had been accepted into this group. She was the loveliest person is ever met and I could see how much her and Skip loved each other. We all walked to the tram station in silence, Beau held my hand tightly, as if he was scared the same would happen to me, I could see Luke and James being extra protective of their girlfriends as well. We boarded the packed team and decided that Skip, Luke Sierra and Jai would get off early and take Skips car to Isla's house. James, Veronica, Beau and I would meet them there, we said good bye and good luck, watching Skip run from the tram station. I felt awful for him, I know how I'd feel if Beau was taken, it wasn't a nice thought at all. Suddenly something Tabby had said to me stuck in my mind, 'Danny will always be mine, NO ONE, will ever get in the way if that.' Was Tabby really capable of something like this? Ever since that night at the polar station she had ignored me, kept herself away from the group, I had to call her. I told Beau I was going to the toilet and made my way to the next carriage, out of ear shot and view.
Tabby: Hello?
Shay: it's me, Shay..
Tabby: oh, I deleted your number. What the fuck do you want?
Shay: why are you being like this? We were best friends Tabs.
Tabby: exactly, WERE bestfriends until you chose those cunts over me. So what do you want?
Shay: Isla's gone missing, I wondered if you knew anything?
Tabby: hahaha, karma has caught up with that slut. I wish I knew who had taken her so I could congratulate them, but no. Is that all?
Shay: yeah, thanks, I guess.
And with that she hung up, her laugh rung in my head for ages, what had made her like this? I walked back towards the others and sat in silence once again, waiting to arrive back in Glenroy.
