Chapter 7

Sometime later...

Sam's POV

I opened my eyes and when I did a saw some machines and I heard a beeping sound. I looked around and saw I was in a hospital bed. No one was here... Just as I expected... No one came to visit me... I looked at my arm and I had some burns on it. On my other one were more severe ones, they looked like third degree. I attempted to sit up, but it was no use. I was too weak to lift my own head at the moment.

I looked at the clock. It was 6:28 AM. School didn't even start yet. I must've slept for a long time. "Oh, you're awake!" Someone said as they opened the door. It was a doctor. He had a clipboard and he had a warm smile. "What happened, did my house catch on fire?" I asked him.

"Unfortunately, I don't know anything about your house." He said with a brief frown. "Oh... Well, how long was I out for?" I asked him. He set down the clipboard on his lap as he sat on a spiny chair and pushed it over to me. "Just a couple of hours." He reported. I sighed while he got the TV remote. "Want me to turn on the tv for you while I take a look at your burns?" He asked. I nodded and he turned it on.

Some cartoon were on, I wanted to see if anything was on the news about my house. "Do you think you can change it to the news?" I asked him. He nodded his head and changed the channel while he examined my arm. In the news there was a report about my house. Of course, it wasn't live...

"This just in, an apartment has gone on fire! Firefighters are currently searching building for anyone who was left behind! They report to have gotten everyone except for one more resident." The reporter said as she was standing in front of the building at a safe distance. At that moment a huge chunk of the building exploded for some reason. "It's very intense in here as someone, not from the fire department, went to go safe the individual!" She said while I continued to watch in curiosity.

"They're coming back!" Someone shouted, the camera zoomed in to a figure carrying a body. The smoke cleared up and it revealed to be Taurtis... He was carrying me on his shoulders while he lightly set me down on a stretcher. Taurtis... He saved me? "Sir, why would you do such a dangerous thing as to risk your own life just to save this person?" They lady asked Taurtis as they stepped away from the fire as the firefighters continued to put out the fire.

"As a human, one of your duties is to try your best to make sure everyone else is safe and sound..." He said while he looked at the camera. "Show them... You still care when no one else does." "Some inspiring words, what is your name?" She asked him. He paused and looked down. "Taurtis." He walked away while I turned off the tv. I'm so confused... "You know him?" The doctor asked.

I didn't respond, I had no words to say. I had no idea why he did that. Does he really still care?... "I-I do..." I mumbled while he finished the exclamation. "Well you're good to go, just take this for the burns and apply it twice a day." The doctor said as he handed me a paper with a type of medicine written on it. "Thanks..." I said while he nodded. "You'll be free to go this afternoon, Sam." He said while he got up. "Thanks doc." I replied while he left the room.

Taurtis really saved my life... He really did... Why would he do that? I thought he hated me? I have a lot of questions to ask him when I get back to school tomorrow...

That afternoon...

After I was allowed to leave the hospital I decided to make a quick trip to the apartment buildings, see how things turned out. When I arrived the area was blocked off so no one would enter. The area was mostly covered with ash and pieces of half burned wood. I looked at the building and half of it was broken off. The other half was on the other side of the block, blocking off the street. Luckily no one got hurt and destroyed the houses next to it. I just wish it crushed the Dorito factory instead.

"Sucks huh?" I heard a familiar voice say. It was Yuki. "Yeah... I don't know where to go now..." I said while realizing I didn't have my snugglemuffins. I sighed, it probably burned in the fire... "You can live with me if you want..." She offered. I looked at her with saddened eyes. "I-I can?" I asked. She nodded and I gave her a hug while holding in my tears. I can't make myself look weak in front of my girlfriend... I can't do that...

"Go ahead, Sam, you can cry. I won't judge you... I love you." She whispered in my ear. I was trying my best to hold in but it was too much. I started to cry on her shoulder while holding her tightly.I lightened my sobs so I could speak clearly and said. "I love you too..."

Me: aww such a nice way to end a chapter... Hehe :3

Sam: I don't like the sound of that laugh... What's going to happen?

Me: hm? Oh nothing... Just wait and see Sam... Just wait and see

Sam: o-o I don't want to wait...

Me: oh well :3 you won't know until it happens!

Me: nu! Don't listen to to Sam *~* he's crazy...

Sam: NO IM NOT!!
