Archer POV:
"When will he be awake?"
"It might take a while, Kye. He had a large amount of silver in his veins." I slowly opened my eyes to find Kye and Jackson, our pack Doctor, talking by the door. I looked around to find that I was back in my room in our real pack house. I slowly sat up and groaned at the pounding in my head, causing Kye and Jackson whip their heads around.
"Finally, you're awake!" Kye said as he walked to my bed. "You've been out for a while. How are you feeling?"
"Like I've been trampled by a horse." Kye laughed and sat on the chair next to my bed. We sat their awkwardly until I finally asked the question that was the elephant in the room.
"What happened?" Kye sighed and looked at Jackson, nodding for him to leave. Once we were alone he turned back and looked at me.
"I'm not sure what exactly happened but I can tell you what I know. After you left, I lead our warriors to the forest and we surrounded you, but from a distance." I felt the anger rise inside me, causing me to shake.
"I told you not to come. Damn it Kye you could've ruined everything, let alone got yourselves killed."
"If we hadn't you would be dead for sure by now." I held back a growl and tried to settle my wolf that was fighting to get out. Once I calmed down I nodded at Kye to continue.
"Well we heard gunshots but didn't move in just in case it was some hunter. It wasn't until after I tried to mind link you that we knew something was wrong. So we ran to you and found you sprawled on the ground. So we brought you back home. None of our warriors could treat you so we had to bring you to Jackson." I nodded and rubbed my head, trying to stop the pain.
"Did you see Damon or was it just a trap?" I looked back up at him and glared.
"Yeah."
"What did he want?"
"He wanted to make a compromise. But I denied it. That man needs to be eliminated."
"What was the compromise?"
"He said he knew he couldn't beat us so he wanted to leave with his rouges in exchange for us to leave them alone."
"Wow." He paused and looked at me intently before continuing. "It's strange, you didn't have any bullet holes in you. And Jackson is baffled at how all that silver was in your blood, seeing how there was no way for it to get in."
"What do you mean no bullet holes? I was shot twice!" I frantically felt my chest and reached down my leg but sure enough there weren't any holes.
"Well obviously not! That silver probably just made you think you were." There's no way. I couldn't imagine a pain like that. Not in a million years."Luckily we got your attacker. She is still passed out from the drugs we injected her with but she should wake up soon."
"Good, they need to be question than killed and...wait did you say she?"
"Yes. She doesn't look very dangerous but I guess she had to have been to take you down."
"No, there were five men that attacked me. There wasn't even a girl in sight."
"Well when we found you she was leaning over you. Don't let that hurt your pride. I would have been distracted if a girl that hot was attacking me. But don't worry; you cut her up pretty good. Gave her a nasty gash down her arm. There was also three men dead. I assume you shot them."
"Where is she now?"
"In our prison, why?" I jumped up out of bed, ignoring the pounding in my head.
"Take me to her. Now."
"Maybe you should rest."
"No, I need to find out what is happening. All I know is that I was attacked by five guys after meeting Damon, shot by a dart full of silver, and then I was shot twice. No girl was involved." He sighed before getting up and walking to the door. I followed behind as we walked down the maze of hallways and down a flight of stairs.
As I passed by my pack members they bowed their heads and told me they were glad I was better. I gave them all the same 'thank you' response, just wanting to sort this mess out. I know for a fact that I wasn't attacked by a girl. No girl could take me down. Five guys maybe, but not some weak girl. We walked outside and headed towards a huge building. It contained our court house, where our elders make all their decisions, and had an elaborate prison system underneath. Once we entered the building I made sure to avoid the elders, knowing they would want to hear all about what happened.
Kye led my down a set of stairs and unlocked the door at the bottom. The minute the door opened a hypnotizing sent hit me, making my wolf stir inside me. It smelled like cinnamon and vanilla with a hint of brown sugar. The further we walked the stronger the smell got.
We walked to the edge of the prison where another set of stairs were. Kye opened the door and walked to the very back. He pointed at a set of iron bars and I turned to look inside. My jaw fell open and I stumbled back. Kye looked at me with a worried look but I kept my eyes on her the whole time.
"Mate." I muttered.
"What?" Kye said, shocked.
"Mate." I said louder.
"Are you sure Archer?" I ignored the question and walked closer to the iron bars. I took a good look at my beautiful mate, my wolf howling in excitement. That was until we saw the deep gash that ran down her arm. As I took a better look I saw that she was slumped on the ground covered in dirt and blood which I assumed was her own. My wolf cried out in pain at seeing our mate like that.
"Open the door." I said, not taking my eyes off her.
"I can't, she tried to kill you. She has to be taken care of." Kye didn't even get to finish the sentence before I had him pinned against the wall. I couldn't control the animalistic growl that was erupting from my throat.
"Do not even think about laying a finger on my mate! Open that door now." I said through clenched teeth. Kye nodded and I let him go. He walked to the door and reluctantly unlocked it. The minute he did I ran inside and scooped my beautiful mate into my arms. Sparks ignited my whole body as I pulled her closer to me.
"What did you do to her?"
"When I pulled her away from you she must've hit her head or something because she passed out." I felt the back of her head and sure enough there was a tiny bump accompanied by dried blood. My thunderous roar echoed throughout the room. How dare he hurt her?
"How much longer till she wakes up?"
"I don't know! One of the men injected her with something to keep her out on the drive back here!" I began to see red at the thought of another man touching what was mine. I tightened my grip around her and ran up the stairs and out of the building, not stopping until I got to my room. I kicked the door shut behind me and walked to my bed. I carefully placed her on it and sat next to her. I moved stray pieces of hair out of her face and ran my thumb down her cheek. I can't believe it. The one thing I hated most in the world, the one thing that I refused to let happen to me, did. I finally had a mate.
