Archer POV:

I left Zane in my office to collect himself. It must've been hard seeing Alice that way and even harder having to retell it. If what he said was true then we are in for some real fun. Gods are stuck up assholes who only think of themselves. Yes, we know about them and they about us. We have even met a few times, but that was years ago. But I'm no fool. When a God wants something, they get it. They have no quarrel with werewolves but killing off the humans would devastate us. Especially since River was a human. I wouldn't let them take her from me.

I walked outside expecting to find River where I left her but to my surprise she wasn't there. I smelled the air and quickly caught onto her mouth watering scent that was pointing to our sports area. I jogged over to where her scent was and the sight in front of me made me laugh out loud. My River was charging down the football field with a trail of people on her ass. I folded my arms over my chest, feeling proud of my little mate. That was until someone tackled her to the ground and before I knew it there was at least a dozen people piled on top of her. I growled and sprinted to them. Are they idiots? She's a human and yet they are acting like she's one of us.

"Get off her!" I screamed as I began yanking them all off.

"I'm sorry Archer I shouldn't have let her play." Hannah said as she ran up to me. I ignored her and pulled the last person up to find that River wasn't there. Everyone just stared down at the empty spot with confusion on their faces.

"Did I win?" A sweet voice rang through the air causing me to whip around. Standing in the goal was River, covered with dirt and a goofy smile on her face. Everyone was just as shocked as I was, clearly seeing her being squished by a bunch of men.

"Woohoo we won!" Hannah screamed and others followed. They all ran to River and picked her up on their shoulders.

"I take that as a yes!" She chuckled. They set her down and Hannah pulled her into a hug.

"How the hell did you do that? You were crushed!"

"Don't underestimate me! There are advantages to being small!" Hannah laughed causing River to do the same. Her laugh was like a drug. It made my wolf purr with delight. I walked behind her and snaked my arms around her waist. She stiffened for a second before relaxing and leaning her head against my chest. Hannah openly smirked before making some excuse to walk away and leave us alone. Once she was gone I turned her around and lightly kissed her pink lips.

"You scared me senseless." I whispered against her lips.

"Don't worry, I'm a big girl! I can take care of myself."

"Oh really?" I asked as I kissed down her neck causing a quiet moan to escape her lips. I smiled against her skin, loving the control I had over her.

"Really."

I smirked and pushed us down to the ground, careful that she would fall to hard. Her eyes were wide as I caged her beneath me.

"Try to escape me, if you can." I challenged. She bit her lips, a smile tugging at her mouth.

"Fine, but you have to close your eyes. And no peaking!" I laughed and closed my eyes as tight as they could go.

"I win!" Her voice came from behind me and I shot my eyes open to find her no longer beneath me. I turned to see her standing with her arms crossed over her chest. How the hell? "You lose!"

"You little-" I said as I jumped up and charged after her. She let out a playful scream and began to run from me, starting a game of chase. My wolf was in heaven, loving every moment of this. I wasn't going as fast as I could because if I did there would be no game. I could hear her laughing causing me to start as well. She ran all the way back to the house and around the side of it. I decided it was time to catch her so I sped up a little and grabbed her waist. She screamed as we both tumbled to the ground. I quickly turned us over so my back hit the ground instead of hers. My head collided hard with the ground causing a loud smacking sound to ring through the air. She gasped and cupped my head in her hands, still on top of me.

"Are you okay Archer? How many fingers am I holding up?" I burst out in laughter at her before she gave me a death glare. I cleared my throat and sat up, keeping her on my lap.

"I'm fine, really!" She didn't seem to believe me so I did all there was left to do. I leaned down and kissed her. She was taken by surprise but she quickly responded. She placed her hands around my neck as I stood up, wrapping her legs around my waist. I held onto her back as I nibbled on her bottom lip asking for entrance. She gave it to me and I gladly took over.

I quickly pushed her against the side of the pack house and grabbed onto her waist. She pulled away for air and I took that opportunity to place small kisses down her neck, causing her to moan. I began to lightly bite the crook of her neck, careful not to let my canines come out. But oh how they wanted to. My wolf was practically pounding them out, wanting to claim River right then and there. My canines were throbbing against my gums as I tried to resist it. I might have given in if River didn't lean down steal my lips from her neck, bringing them back up to hers. She suddenly pulled away and looked me deep in the eyes.

"Why me?"

"What do you mean?"

"Why did you bring me here? There are much better people out there and yet you picked me. I'm just a nobody from Waters Groove."

"You're mine." She was about to speak when I put my finger over her lips to silence her.

"I chose you because how could I not? Your laugh is contagious and has everyone else wanting to join in. Your voice could sooth a thousand screaming babies. Your eyes could stop an army. You are the most beautiful person inside and out. Call me crazy but if you ever left me, I think I would die." I finished my rant to find her gorgeous eyes wide. I slowly dragged my finger off her lips and lightly pecked them before looking her in the eyes again.

"I love you." The minute she said it her eyes grew even wider and she slammed her hand over her mouth. She squirmed out of my hold and began to pace around. "Oh my god I can't believe I just said that! I mean, we've only known each other for like four days. I don't know what's gotten into me. Please forget I said anything." I growled at her, not meaning for it to come out so loud.

"Don't you dare take it back." She just stared at me, obviously confused. "I love you, River. I loved you the day I first laid eyes on you. I love how you walk, talk, laugh, sleep, everything about you." A lone tear ran down her cheek and I leaned down and kissed it off her. "I love you. As much as I tried to fight it I just couldn't. I love you with all my heart and soul."

"I love you too." She mumbled. My wolf howled in delight as I picked her up and spun her around. I wrapped her legs around my waist and leaned my forehead on hers.

"You are my everything." I whispered. She grinned before kissing me gently.

"Archer, foods read-" I whipped my head around to find Kye who was now starring awkwardly. "I'll just...I'll be inside." He said with an obvious smile on his face. Once he ran off I turned back to River.

"You ready to eat?" Just as I said it a loud rumble came from her stomach causing her cheeks to flush a crimson red color. "I take that as a yes." I chucked at her. I put her down and then she took off running.

"Race ya!" She yelled already a good yard away. My wolf howled as I began the familiar game of cat and mouse. I can't believe it. If someone had told me a month ago that I would find my mate and fall head over heels in love with her, I would've told them to check into a mental institution. Somehow River had me swooning at her feet. I have to admit that I love it. I love her. And, from this day forward, always will.
