Archer POV:

I walked out of my Black SUV and into the house that a few warriors of my pack took over for the time being. My pack is known for its strong fighters and no one has even tried to mess with us. That is until now. I slammed the door behind me and walked into the kitchen. My beta, Kye, was hunched over reading something. I cleared my throat to make my presence know. He looked up at me and I could see the dark bags under his eyes.

"Oh hey Archer!"

"What are you doing?" I asked as I walked over to the fridge to grab a beer.

"Trying to find this Damon guy! I have no idea where he is." I pulled up a chair and sat down next to him.

"Don't get all worked up about this, we have dealt with many rouges before."

"But this one is different! It's not just one rouge, its more than a hundred of them all working together." He was right. For the first time in history, Rouges have joined together to create their own pack. But they don't have any ground rules. It's do whatever you want whenever you want without any consequence. They have crossed our borders and killed many of our pack members who were out for a run.

"We have to stop them before they kill anymore of our pack." I growled. Kye nodded his head in agreement and looked back down at the paper. Not long after I heard the door open followed by laughter. The rest of my warriors came stumbling in with smiles planted on their faces.

"Man I'm so glad we can't get drunk." My third in command, Bryn, mumbled. Once they saw me they all stopped and bowed their heads in respect.

"Having fun?" They all nodded their heads.

"Do I need to remind you what we are here to do?" They all mumbled a quick no.

"You are dismissed." I said as I sat back down next to Kye. They wasted no time getting out of my sight.

"Idiots." I mumbled. Kye chuckled and shook his head at me.

"Where did they even go?"

"Some gentlemen's diner. I went to but came back after I ate. I don't know where they've been since then but I take it they had some fun." I just nodded and took a sip of my beer.

"Did you talk to Alpha Derek?" He looked at me with hopeful eyes.

"He will not help us."

"Why? Those rouges are a threat to every pack out there."

"He said he won't risk the lives of his pack to help something that hasn't threatened their safety yet." Kye growled and stood up quickly causing his chair to fly backwards. He began to shake and I knew he was about to shift.

"Kye, calm down!" I used my alpha voice knowing he couldn't deny it. He quickly calmed his wolf and sat down taking deep breaths.

"I need Emma. I'm going crazy without her." I just smirked at him. Emma was his mate.

"You see, this is why having a mate sucks! You go crazy when they aren't around and you worry about them all the time. That's no way to live my friend." I leaned back in my chair and downed the rest of my beer.

"Oh shut it Archer. You know nothing. Having a mate is wonderful. It gives you something to live for. Something to fight for!"

"And also something that an enemy will use against you whenever they see fit." Kye just sighed and stood up, grabbed the paper and walked out. He stopped at the door before turning and looking back at me.

"The Silver Shadow pack needs their Luna, Archer." With that he walked out of the room leaving me to think on what he said. I've always despised the idea of a mate. All they do is get in the way. Sure, it feels great to have them with you but if they are ripped away from you, you might as well be dead. My father learned that the hard way. Suddenly my phone started to ring. I pulled it out of my pocket and saw that is was an unknown number.

"Hello?"

"Is this Archer?"

"Who is this?"

"It's Damon." I froze. Finally he was going to come out and play.

"What do you want Damon?"

"I want to meet you. Alone."

"When and where?"

"Wow, you're not even going to ask if it's a trap? Brave little wolf."

"Don't test me." I growled at him. "Now I'll ask again. When and where?"

"Tonight. In the woods behind the grocery store." I was about to hang up when he stopped me.

"Don't forget. Come alone. I will know if you don't." Then the line went dead. I crushed the phone in my hand before throwing it at the wall. I walked up the stairs to our makeshift office where Kye was sitting on the computer.

"Damon called." I muttered at I walked in.

"What? What did he say?"

"He wants to meet me tonight in the woods."

"Alright, I'll get everyone ready." He stood up and began to walk to the door.

"No." I said as I moved to block his way.

"No?"

"He wants me to come alone." Kye just stared at me with a confused look on his face.

"You know it's a trap, right?"

"Most likely."

"Then why aren't you bringing us with you."

"Because he won't show if I have all of you lurking about. I'm going alone and that's final." With that I left the room and walked into mine. I plopped on the bed, shutting my eyes. I needed all my strength for what lies ahead.
