I woke up the best way possible, to the smell of bacon. My stomach growled from hunger as I sprang up out of bed. I haven't eaten in a while so just the thought of bacon was enough to make me drool, let alone the smell. As I walked to the door I finally took the time to actually look at the room.
To say it was huge is an understatement. It was the size of my whole apartment, if more. The walls were all a dark blue and one wall was black. The huge circle bed was against the black wall and had matching bed side tables next to it. Windows from the floor to the ceiling were everywhere possible. In the corner of the room there were a couple of white couches surrounding a huge TV. In another corner there was a door that led to a huge closet about the size of my old bed room. Finally in the last corner there was an archway that led to a small study with desk and bookshelves. Whoever took me must be filthy rich.
Once I was done inspecting everything I remembered my original quest. I walked to the door and slowly pulled it open, revealing a long hallway that seemed to go on forever. I stuck my head out to make sure no one was there before stepping out. I shut the door behind me and then began walking to the kitchen. Well, at least I thought I was. I came to that conclusion when I ended up right back where I started. I growled and tried again, but to no avail. I was about to try again when I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around to find Emma creepily smiling at me again. There was an awkward silence before I finally decided to speak up.
"I'm uh, looking for the kitchen." The happy smile dropped and a look of concern replaced it.
"You must be starving! Here, let me take you to the kitchen." Before I could stop her she looped her arm around mine and began dragging me down the hallway. I paid very good attention to where she was taking me so I wouldn't have this happen again. We ended up at the top of a grand staircase, and when I say grand I mean grand. It was the classic double stairway you would see in all those romantic movies. I couldn't help but glide my hand down the railing as she led me down. Once we were at the bottom we began yet another maze of confusing hallways.
"What is this place?"
"It's Archer's house but a lot of the town lives here." After what seemed like forever we got to the kitchen.
If you thought the bedroom was impressive the kitchen was glorious. Granite counter tops went around the walls and bars were everywhere. There was a cute island with a sink and different appliances. The fridge was one of the ones that people play with at the appliance store wishing it could be theirs. All of the appliances were top notch and there seemed to be more than one of everything. The room was tied together by a huge wooden table that could sit at least fifty people.
Emma led me in and to the island where I saw what my stomach was yearning for. There was a pile of bacon big enough to feed an army, along with pancakes and hash browns. Emma piled stuff on a plate for me and took me to one of the bars. I sat down and dug in, not caring about table manners. Emma laughed at me as she walked to the fridge, pulling out orange juice. She poured two cups and brought one over to me before sipping on her own.
"So how did you sleep, River." My thoughts wondered back to Adonis. But that would be hard to explain so I just went with the common lie.
"Good." There was silence as I finished my food. I took a drink of my juice as she grabbed my plate and took it to the sink. "Can you please tell me why I'm here? Are you guys kidnappers or something?"
