Archer POV:
It’s been almost a week since Emma has gone missing. To say Kye is a mess is an understatement. He has been up day and night combing the woods for her. But we both know it’s no use. She is gone and I know the chances of getting her back alive grows smaller with every day that passes by.
River isn’t taking this well either. She has barely said anything since that morning and I have to literally shove things down her throat to get her to eat. The worst part is she’s shut me out. I was sitting at my desk with my head in my hands. I remember when life was easy and fun. I want to say that it’s because of Damon that everything has changed, but, in reality, it’s because of her. My mate. My mind keeps wandering back to what Zane had said to me.
As much as I want to forget it, I just can’t. He is right. I don’t know the first thing about River. Hell, I don’t even know her last name. I don’t know where she came from, I don’t know who her parents are, I don’t know her favorite food, or her favorite movie. I don’t know her. My thoughts were interrupted by a loud bang coming from down stairs. Kye was back.
I listened carefully to like glass shattering and thunderous growls before I decided to intervene. This has gone on far enough. I leave my office and follow the sound of things breaking.
“Kye, you need to calm down.” I hear Bryn trying to reason with him. But I know at this point nothing will help him except having Emma back. The sound leads me to the kitchen though if this wasn’t my pack house, I would never be able to tell. Cabinets were torn from their frame, the fridge was on its side, glasses and plates were shattered all over the floor, and so much more. Kye was in the center of the kitchen and Bryn was attempting to move closer to him. I could see that he was on the verge of shifting again. From behind I could see that his nails were extended and fur patches were growing in random spots.
“Kye, enough.” I demanded, using my Alpha Voice. He whipped around and for the first time I saw just how bad he was. He dark bags under his eyes and all the color was drained from his normally tan face. His canines are out and he is breathing heavily. “Kye, you need some rest. You haven’t slept in days. “
“I don’t need sleep!” He roared. “I just need her.” If it had been anyone else, I would’ve made him regret raising his voice at me. But he was like my brother and it hurt me to see him like this. I stiffened up and inched towards him, my eyes not leaving his. He tried to hold his position but I could tell that his wolf was cowering under my stare. Once I got close enough I reached out my hand and placed it on his shoulder. His body seemed to relax and his canines retracted.
“I know this is hard, Kye. And I’m sorry this happened to you, I really am. But we are doing everything possible to get Emma back. These tantrums you throw are not helping her or anyone else.” He flinched away from me and gave me a deathly glare.
“You could never understand.” He spit at me. This caused my wolf to growl. He doesn’t like being disrespected.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“If River was kidnapped, the whole pack would go crazy and be willing to die to find their Luna. Emma is no one’s Luna. She is just another pack member in their eyes that will be sacrificed to Damon. I’m not waiting around for her to di-“ He stopped dead in his tracks and began to tremble.
“Kye?” I tried to reach for him but I was too late. He screamed out in agony and fell to the floor. His hand moved to his stomach where they pressed hard. I ran over to him and fell next to him. “Kye, look at me.” He didn’t answer and instead began to convulse.
“What’s happening?” Bryn asked, the fear obvious in this voice.
“Something is happening to Emma. Bryn, I need you get Jackson.” He nodded and sprinted out of the kitchen. “Come on Kye you can get through this.” I sat next to him, watching helplessly, for three minutes. Finally he came to and opened his tear filled eyes. He looked up at me before closing his eyes again, causing a lone tear to run down his face.
“She’s dying, Archer.” He mumbled. “This time, he stabbed her in the stomach. She’s dying.” He opened eyes and this time anger filled them. “She’s dying.” He said louder as he struggled to stand up. He leaned himself against the counter, breathing heavily. I stood up and hesitated. Not sure what to do. He was breathing in his nose and out his mouth very heavily, causing spit to come out. “She’s dying!” This time he yelled and stood all the way up. “And it’s all because of her. It was her he was after.” It didn’t take a genius to guess who he was referring to.
“Kye-“ I began but he cut me off.
“It was her fucking fault. He wanted her, not Emma. Where is she?” He screamed. That’s it. He broke. I’ve seen this before to know exactly what is happening. He doesn’t mean what he’s saying. He’s just lost his mind. Still, my wolf howled at the thought of him touching River.
“Kye, let’s go see Jackson.”
“No! Where is she? Where is the bitch? I’ll kill her.” He sprinted from the room and out of my sight. It took a second for me to process what was happening.
“Shit.” I mumbled as it clicked. I sprinted after him, my wolf growling at the threat to hurt our mate. I caught up to him on the stairs and tackled him to the ground, causing us both to roll back down the stairs. Kye was growling ferociously and I pinned him to the ground. His eyes had turned completely black and his canines had returned.
“Just trade her back.” He howled. “You don’t know anything about her. Hell, she is probably sleeping with him for all you know! She hasn’t even been here for a month. No one will miss her. Emma has been her longer.” A thunderous growl escaped me and my hand wrapped around his neck as my wolf fought to get out. But I couldn’t let him. He would surely tare Kye apart for saying such things and I couldn’t let that happen. He doesn’t mean any of it and he is like my brother. Hell, he is my brother.
“Kye, I suggest you shut up.” I growled.
“Please, I need to get her back. You’ve only known her for two weeks. I’ve known Emma for years! How is that fair!”
“Kye, shut up.” I could feel my wolf clawing at me to get out.
“I will give her to him. You can’t watch her forever. I can send her as a whole or in pieces. It’s your choice.” That was enough to push me over the edge. Crazy or not, he should know better than to speak about his Luna like that. I couldn’t let my wolf out but I needed to make him pay. I leaned back then shot my fist straight to his face. His head when flying back and collided with the stairs, making a sickening sound. The impact was enough to knock him out but more importantly, silence him. I stood up just as the front door opened, allowing a frantic Jackson and Bryn to run in. I kept my back to them as I stepped over Kye and began walking up the stairs.
“Fix him up Jackson. Then lock him in the prison.” I said coldly. I stopped before adding “give him the best one and make sure he is comfortable.” With that I walked upstairs and back into my office.

Hello Lovlies! Im sorry this is such a short chapter! I am having some serious writers block with this story. I know the major event that are going to happen but I'm having trouble leading up to them. Don't forget to vote and comment! In all seriousness, one comment or vote is all it takes to motivate me to update faster. As shallow as that sounds, just knowing that someone actually enjoys my story makes me excited to get a new chapter out! :)
Have a wonderful day!
