Chapter 7: TORCHWOOD

"Don't look alarmed, don't raise your voice, Just listen." The phone says.

Rose swallows, unsure what to think. She hadn't worked for torchwood in nearly 3 months and she knew they wern't calling to hire her again. 

The voice draws to a whisper, as if determined the conversation be kept between just to two of them. Meanwhile The Doctor had curled back into his blanket and was snoring again. 

"Rose Tyler we have reason to believe a hoax has been played on you and your family. You are all in terrible danger. Please wipe your face of all emotion. They might be watching.

Rose does her best to follow the woman's instructions, but can't help the nervous pulse in her throat.

"Come to TORCHWOOD Towerin 20 minutes. Bring The Doctor, make sure you are not followed. A car will be waiting outside of you apartment in 5 minutes."

Rose quickly slips into the pantry. "Hang on," She says into the reciever. "How do you know where I am? I havn't worked for TORCHWOOD in a long while and-"

"Ms Tyler. You lived here in London for 2 years, then you dissipeared for two days, and returned with The Doctor. We helped you get through the rift to get there, but you got home all on your own. We have been keeping tabs on you ever since you returned, and we absolute assurence that you are in danger. Come to the tower so we can protect you. It is our job."

She swallows. "Ok. We'll be there."

It took a lot of shoving to get him off the couch, but eventually he obliged, and walked outside with her.

She realises with a jolt as they walked past the doorman, that before last night she had not referred to him as 'The Doctor'. She had kept him in her mind as "Him" or "He".

The black car sat quietly like a poised panther on the roadside, and as Rose made her way to it, she felt a chill run down her spine.
