I can't believe I'm in his room again, Hiyori thought as Kenichi opened the door of his room. It's still the same as before.
The room has a wallpaper of light blue and parquet flooring. There was a study table beside the window, next to his bed. A bookshelf was standing at the far end corner of the room next to the study table and it has a lot of different kinds of books which are neatly aligned. A laundry basket was placed in a corner of the room at the end of the bed next to a trash can. A pin-note board was hanging on the wall next to his bed. Notes and pictures were posted on it, but what caught her eyes was their picture together on a frame placed on his study table next to a stack of books.
Kenichi saw Hiyori looking at the picture frame and quickly placed the frame down. "This is nothing. Mom insisted that I put it here. She's really persistent so I let her..." he explained in a whisper but she heard him clearly and went inside after looking around the room.
But other than the things mentioned, the room was neat and tidy, and spacious, unlike hers.
"Where are we going to do the homework?" She asked, not looking at him.
"We'll do it here," he pointed at the center of the room. "I'll get the low table in the stock room." He said, and then went out of the room before she could say anything.
Hiyori flopped down on the floor, feeling exhausted. Her heart is beating against her chest.
Honestly, she felt like she was on a verge of tears because she don't want to be with him right now. She doesn't know why but she doesn't like this feeling. A feeling that might break her heart again.
"I'll clean off the dust first before we use it," Kenichi suddenly said as he enters the room, carrying a low-table with a curtain-like fabric cover.
Kenichi didn't seem to notice that a tear fell from Hiyori's eyes because she quickly wiped it off.
What's wrong with me?, she thought as she watched Kenichi wipe off the dust on the table with a wet rug.
"Done," he said, unaware of her watching him. "I'll put this back first," he showed her the dirty rug he was holding then hurriedly went out of the room again.
---
Hiyori sat in front of Kenichi and sat cross-legged.
"How can I help you when you're far away from me?" Kenichi suddenly asked with an edge to his voice which caught her off guard.
"Ummm," she said, unable to say anything.
"Fine, I'll go there..." He said as if they were still close friends.
"Um, can you please move a bit? You're too close..." Hiyori suddenly said a few minutes later after Kenichi sat next to her.
"What? I wouldn't do anything to you other than help you with your homework. Unless you want me to kiss you?" That didn't come out right, he thought.
Hiyori blushed at his straight-forwardness and looked down at her hands on her lap.
"I'm serious, Yori..."
Hiyori suddenly looked at Kenichi after he called her by her nickname that Kenichi made for her.
He was still looking at her intensely when she turned to look at him. She blushed and looked away quickly.
"Let's just do this!" She said in a hurry. "We'll start with my math homework," she said as she flipped on her notebook, ignoring his quite intimidating gaze.
---
After an hour of doing her homeworks...
"Tell me, Yori...do still feel intimidated by me?" said Kenichi.
That nickname again! Please stop this!, she thought, her heart beating fast.
Hiyori gasped as he took her face by his hands and turned it to face him. "Look at me in the eyes, Yori, and tell me..." he said softly.
"I...don't know..." She replied as she looked into his dark eyes for the first time.
"Yori, I..." Kenichi was about to say something when his mom came barging inside the room.
"My my..." Kenichi's mom giggled like a teenager.
Both of them blush as they were caught by his mom as if they did something naughty. Kenichi quickly let go of Hiyori who turned away from him, blushing.
Kenichi glared at his mother.
"Mom, would you mind knocking first before coming in? Geez!" Kenichi exasperatedly said.
His mom ignored him and said, "I brought you guys these." She placed the tray with a pitcher of orange juice, 2 glasses with ice and a plate of tuna sandwiches on the table.
"Domo arigato, Seri-san," Hiyori said with a smile.
"You're welcome. You're so cute, Hiyori-chan!" Kenichi's mom suddenly hugged her, giggling like a teenager, startling Hiyori.
Kenichi was even shocked to what his mom did. "Mom, you're really an embarassment..." Kenichi said looking away from the sight of his mom hugging Hiyori.
"Oh really?" His mom raised an eyebrow at him as she pulled away from Hiyori. "You want me to show Hiyori-chan a picture of you and her?"
Hiyori watched Kenichi as his eyes widened in fear. "Mom! I thought you've thrown that away already?!" He shouted outrageously at his mom.
"Why would I do that? It's a remembrance. A memory that would not be thrown away..." Seri said with a triumphant smile.
"God. Sometimes you're annoying mom," he muttered under his breath.
"What did you say, son?" She asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Nothing..." He looked away, feeling embarrassed.
Hiyori suddenly chuckled which startled the both of them.
"Sorry. I just can't help it. Kenichi-kun is so cute!" Hiyori stopped herself but it was too late for that. She wasn't aware of the stare Kenichi was giving her when she looked down, blushing furiously.
"What did you just say?" Kenichi asked her unaware of his mom leaving the room.
"I'll just leave the two of you..." She said before closing the door behind her.
Kenichi knew that his mom vouch for them to be a couple.
"I didn't mean..." she suddenly stop as Kenichi moved closer to her. Their body almost touching.
Hiyori looked away from him.
"Answer me, Yori. Did you just say that I'm cute?" He asked as his hand covered the back of her neck. She gasped at his touch. As if she was burned by his heat.
"Tell me before I let go of you..." His warm breath fanning her cheeks.
Her heart started to beat in an uneven rhythm and her body started to heat up. Why am I feeling like this when I'm near him and most of all, I just meet him again after 4 years, Hiyori thought while looking down at her feet. I should have...
"Yori...." Kenichi whispered her nickname which made her look up at him and stare at his dark mesmerizing eyes. He leaned down and every second her heartbeat gets louder and louder. She closed her eyes tightly...
Oh God...is he gonna kiss me?, Hiyori thought absent-mindedly.
