Love That Will Last Forever

Ch. 17

Kenichi's and Hiyori's jaw dropped as soon as they saw his mom laughing happily with Hiyori's mom in the living room.

So mom's been here the whole time Yori came into my room?, Kenichi thought to himself, staring at his mom talking happily at her best friend.

Both of their mother haven't realized that they've been standing by the entry of the living room.

"You know what, friend. I've been thinking of letting them marry...they're suitable for each other, right?" Kaoru Kyoko, Hiyori's mom, said to Kenichi's mom. "And they are at that age already but of course after they graduated!" She added enthusiastically at her friend.

"Yes. You're right about that and I could see that my son really do love your daughter even if they were a part years ago," Seri-san second the motion.

Hiyori blushed while Kenichi slapped his free hand on his face, he knew he was blushing as well.

And before they could utter another word, Kenichi cleared his throat and said, "Aren't you guys chatting happily?" A bit embarrassed.

Both of the middle-aged women turned to their direction and instead of looking at their faces, their eyes went to their hands which were entwined together. Both of them quickly let go, embarrassed that they've been caught.

"Aha! I see you guys have made up!" Seri-san clapped her hands together, beaming at them.

"Is your mom always like that?" Kenichi lowered his voice for Hiyori's ears only.

"Sort of..." She replied, turning to him with a smile on her lips.

"Have you guys been standing there the whole time?" Asked Kaoru-san.

"Not really," replied Hiyori. "We just got here..."

"Oh, so you didn't hear what..." Seri-san started to say but Kenichi interrupted.

"If you guys were really talking about the marriage thing I won't object..."

Hiyori's eyes went wide at him. What?! She thought in surprise, blushing.

"You heard me, Ai..." He said as if reading her mind and for the first time after years of being a part he called his endearment for her. "I'll marry you after we graduated..." He went on while staring straight in her eyes and their mother gasped at the same time.

Kenichi took her hand in his and kissed the back of it and said, "I'm not joking, my love..." His eyes twinkling. "I'll marry and love you with all my heart..."

And that made her eyes well up in joy. Hiyori hugged him tightly. "Oh Kenichi..." Smiling as she hugged him. "You don't know how much you made me happy when you said that..." She said softly as they both let go of each other.

He smiled back warmly at her and kissed her on her forehead.
