Niall's POV:
As soon as I got off the phone with Amber, I hopped in my car and raced over to her house. The house was vacant; Liam probably already left and she was still at Isabella's. I let myself in since I had a key to their house as well. About a half an hour of sitting on the sofa watching television went by before I heard the door open.
I stood up so fast that my head went dizzy.Little Miracle was passed out in her arms while Lilli trailed, sleepily, behind her. I ran to my little girl to carry her up the stairs; her fragile body snuggled up in my chest; I carried her to her bedroom and she yawned to me, "Hi Daddy." Once I laid her down, I quickley kissed her forehead and told her Momma would be in to say goodnight. I took a seat on her little bed and stared at the door, waiting for Amber.
"I love you, Daddy." Lilli mumbled into her pillow and cuddle up to the side of my leg that sat on the bed. My fingers pushed her silky hair out of her face so I could reach my lips down and kiss her one more time.
"I love you too, Lillian." I started to hum my solo in 'Little Things' to her and before I knew it, she was out cold and all I could hear was the sound of her breathing. I could faintly hear Amber singing Miracle to sleep as well. I stroked Lilli's hair and hummed to her until Amber lightly tapped on the door, motioning me to come out with her. "Hey."
"Come on, let's let the girls sleep." She said as she zipped up her blue hoodie. She must've gotten changed into her pajamas; she wore everything so well. Her hair was up in a neat bun, but some of her bangs and baby hairs hung around her face and neck.
I followed her to the living room where she proceeded to keep busy by lighting some candles and folding clothes that were dry. "Amber," She let a hum escape her lips, but didn't stop to talk to me. "Amber, stop. Talk to me. What happened?"
She let out a great sigh, hiding and fighting tears. "He left his phone downstair while he got in the shower." She pulled her knees into her chest and her fists clung to her knee-high socks. I gripped my hair, unable to fathom the way she found out; he wasn't even man enough to tell her himself?
"And then Danielle texted him asking him when he was coming tonight." I saw the tears whell up in her eyes. I took my index finger and traced her eyelid, wiping that single tear away, but it triggered the release of the rest. I pulled her into me, craddling her head in my lap.
"Shh, Amber it'll be alright." She continued to cry and choke on the air around her. "Shh. I can't believe you found out that way. He promised he'd tell you himself." She stopped crying and sat up, sniffling.
"You mean, you knew?" I let the words slip, but didn't mean to upset her even more. "How could you not tell me, Niall?" She jumped off the sofa and stormed off. I turned around and watched her pink polk-a-dotted shorts sway on her hips. She was so beautiful when she was mad.
"I didn't mean to upset you Amber. It wasn't my place to tell you." I got up and followed her to the laundry room.
"Of course it was! You should've told me the second you found out and you know that." She started to yell in a whisper, trying not to wake the girls.
"No I shouldn't have. What if you and I really did mess around and Louis found out, huh?" I started to raise my voice like she did. "Don't you think Liam would want to find out from you and not Louis?" I watched from behind as she unloaded Liam's clothes from the dryer. I watched her cling to his batman tee shirt; her and the girls all had matching ones.
"But it's different." She whispered into his clothes. I began to get even more frustrated, but I knew how hurt she was.
"No it's not, and you know that." I walked up behind her and stood real close. My arms reached in front of her and slowly tore his shirt out of her clutch; she started to wheap as I tossed it back into the dryer. It may seem like I was doing this for me or for us, but I was doing this for her. "Come here."
I shut the dryer and picked her up the way I was supposed to on our wedding night. She cried in my arms the way Lilli was sleeping in them earlier that night as I led her back out to the sofa. She rested in my lap, her face in the crook of my neck, as I rubbed her back, attempting to quell her crys.
"What am I going to do now?" She whispered to me after she calmed herself down. "We have Miracle and this house. Like, what am I supposed to tell her when she's older, now?"
"We can figure that out when that time comes. And you don't have to figure anything out right now. You and him and talk about that later." Her finger nails dug into my skin and I felt a single tear slither down my shirt. I knew her well enough to know she was thinking of her parents; thinking about her Mommom and Ryan and what they would say to her right now.
"I'm sorry." She held on harder to me like I'd leave in a second. But who could blame her? The only two men she gave her heart to left her without warning. I wish she'd understand now that I would never leave again.
"Don't be, Love." I took my index finger again and wiped away her tears, staring into her big blue eyes. A small smile crept across her lips. "Hey I know what will cheer you up."
"What? Where are you going?" I got up and ran around her house quietly, tell her to wait and see. In the kitchen I made popcorn and hot chocolate. I ran to the linen closet and grabbed some blankets and an extra pillow. When I was done she just laughed at me. "You and your ideas."
"Your favorites: Hot chocolate, cuddling, and Peter Pan." I popped in the DVD before spreading the blankets over us on the sofa. I laid behind her and wrapped my arms around her waist. She intertwined her fingers with mine on her stomach; I knew she was happy.
"Thank you," She craned her lips back to peck me on the cheek just as Peter Pan quoted, 'Second star to the right, and straight on 'til morning!'
