Amber's POV:
During the course of the day, I couldn't get the proposal out of my head. Either Lilli or Maura was around us all day so I didn't get to answer him, but honestly, I was truly conflicted. I've been engaged twice, married once, and both relationships had fallen apart right before my eyes; I had a right to be scared.
Lilli and I had gotten dressed in Niall's old bedroom around one in the afternoon. She slipped into a pair of jeans and a stripped sweater while I pulled on a pair of tan skinny jeans with a tan, lace top to match. I tossed my hair up into a bun so I could quickly start to do Lilli's hair; she wanted me to curl it a bit for her.
"Thanks, Momma. I love it when you do my hair." I ran my fingers through her smooth hair and stared at her through the mirror, sitting on the floor. If she was just like me, she'd love the feeling of someone playing with your hair. I wanted to make her remember this as our thing, because now it's one of the things I miss about my Mommom everyday.
"I do too, Angel." I kissed the back of her head before raising the hot tool to her blonde hair. I sprayed it a few times with hairspray so it would stick throughout the day. I could never get over how gorgeous she actually was. It was strange to think that I am a part of what made her along with Niall. We created the most beautiful human being and I was so proud to be her Mom.
Maura had made a fantastic dinner for us and then slipped off to bed after saying goodbye to us all. We would be heading to the airport around midnight and didn't want to keep her up, so we sent her off to bed at nine. She told Lilli how much she loved her and held her son in her arms one last time for awhile, probably.
She made her way over to me and brought me into her arms. I burried my face in her neck and she let a whisper spill down my back. "I always knew you and Niall belonged together." I froze as she pulled me away and kissed my cheek. "Always." And with that, she headed off to bed, leaving us in the living room to watch television as a family.
Like planned, we hit the road as the clock struck tweleve and waited for our flight to arrive. I didn't want my daughter growing up in a famous-oriented environment so we rarely flied on a private plane as a family. Plus, no one really chased after Niall anymore; there was the occasional woman who looked about my age, asking for an autograph. They'd come and tell him how in love with him they were in high school and I'd just stand and listen, remembering the old days when I was like that.
We sat by the gates waiting on the plane, that was going to be a tad late landing, to come in so we could go home. Lilli kept busy for a bit by reading a book with me and then playing a game with her Father. She eventually tired herself out and fell asleep with her head in my lap. I stroked her hair and stared at her; she was growing up so fast and I couldn't believe she was already six.
I waited until I knew she was fast asleep to bring up Niall quesiton from earlier. "Yes." My eyes never left Lilli's sleeping body, but Niall's head shot up to stare at me.
"You really want to get married? Finally?" His arm wrapped around my shoulders as he pulled me in closer to him. Lilli rolled over and snuggled up to my thigh; I rubbed my hand back and forth on her arms and Niall twisted his fingers in her curls.
"I think it'd make all of us happy if we did." The room was quiet and barren as not many people traveled at one in the morning. We planned out some wedding things and something that casually came up was the ring. "I still have our first engagment ring."
"Really? You kept it?" His left hand fingers traced the marks he left on my neck earlier, while his right hand ones twirled in Lilli's hair and gentley glided over her face.
"What was I going to do; throw it in the ocean?" We both tried to laugh as softly as possibly, in hopes of not waking Lilli. "Well I was going to give it to her when she got older. Just so she knew that you and I did love each other at some point."
"What did you do with Liam's ring?" Just his name sent shivers up my spine. It made me think of Miracle and how she was doing, too. The last thing she spent the weekend with her father, she came home sick. I wanted nothing, but the best for her.
"I gave it back to him, and we talked it over. When Miracle is old enough to understand, we are giving it to her. That's when we'll tell her everything too." I hated messing up my daughter's lives somehow; they would never be completely normal.
At quarter to two, our flight was finally starting to board. Niall scooped Lilli up from my lap as we walked over to get on our plane. "Daddy, where are we going?" She questioned as she cuddled up to his chest.
"Home, Sweetheart." He kissed her forehead and held her tight in his arms, without showing sign of ever letting her go. "We're going home."
