Chapter 27 (Adrian)

The second I reach the house, I see a red truck and I immediately know he's here. A two story house comes into view, and from the sights of it it looks like it's been abandoned. Brett was right. I just hope to God that Lily is safe. I try and park my car as far away as possible from the house so he wouldn't see it but as I step out of my car, a dog comes out of the bushes and starts heading towards me, barking as loud as he can. He chases me until I lose him through all the trees around us. I catch my breathe and sneak my way back, hiding behind trees.

When I look towards the house, Cole was standing on the porch. He heard me. I was hiding behind an oak tree maybe around 100 feet away from him and when I peek around the tree to see, he looks drunk, crazy and extremely strong. He turns around to walk back inside and I have no idea what I'm doing but my first instinct is to run towards him.

But once I take my first step, he turns around and just stares at me. I stop right in front of him, I don't move, I don't do anything. One side of his lips starts to curl up into a creepy smirk.

Cole: "Well look who it is, the knight in shining armor coming to the rescue."

Adrian: "Where's Lily?"

Cole: "Lily? Hmm don't think I've heard of a Lily before."

He strokes his chin as if indeed in thought thought. I grind my teeth in anger.

Adrian: "Don't play games with me Cole! WHERE IS SHE? Where's my girlfriend?!"

Cole: "Oh, that Lily! Why didn't you just say so? She's inside. You know she's quite a catch, such beautiful soft skin; and those breasts that you just want to sink your teeth into."

Adrian: "I swear to God, if you touched a single finger on her I..."

Cole: "You what?"

Adrian: "Don't tempt me."

I say as I throw a punch at his face. His face falls side ways and he smirks as he feels his face.

Cole: "Quite the arm you've got there. Maybe you're not as soft and weak as your girl inside."

He smirks and spits out some blood.

Cole: "It's too bad your princess won't be here to see you die."

He swung his arm so fast and in an instant I was hit. And then again. I tripped over my feet and fell to the floor. He came to my level to get in another punch and I took this opportunity to grab his head and bring him close enough to knee him in the stomach. He wrapped his arms around his stomach trying to gain composure and I threw in a punch. But just as fast as I pushed my arm out his hand was there and he caught my hand. He twisted my arm around my back and stomped on my back, shooting an unbearable pain up my arm. I wrap my foot behind Coles foot and pull forward making him trip and fall on his back. I sit with my knees on either side on him, using my body weight to hold him down, and begin to punch him. Rage has taken over and all I see is red and then I remember.

Cole took this opportunity of my weakness and rolls me over on my back and pinned me down with his strength. His hands on my throat, closing my airways, making me gasp for air. But then I hear someone yell, "Cole! Let him go! Stop!!"

All of a sudden my lungs are taking in air normally and I sit up to see Brett holding Cole across the stomach and trying hard to hold him down.

Cole: "Let go of me!"

He grabs a hold of both of Coles wrists and pins them against he side of his head.

Brett: "No, you can't do this!"

Cole: "You know what they did!"

Brett: "They didn't do anything and neither did you!"

Cole: "I could've been there for him; I could've tried to help him."

Brett: "But he was already suffering through his disorder and you chose to commit the crime. No one made you do anything."

Cole: "That little bitch inside could've helped me but she chose not to."

Adrian: "One more word about her and I swear to God it will be your last!"

I'm about to explode when I smell smoke and look past Cole into his house. The house is on fire!

Adrian: "Move out of the way! The house is burning!"

I try to push my way around Cole, but he pushes on my chest making me stumble a few feet behind.

Cole:" And where do you think you're going?"

Adrian: "Lily." I whisper, realization dawning on me, the house was catching fire.
