I don't know what to think at this moment. When Lily was telling the story about Alex I wasn't mad at what Lily did, well maybe a little, but I was angry as fuck at the thought of someone taking advantage of her. I needed to leave before I said or did anything I would regret. While I am on my way to the car I hear footsteps getting louder and louder behind me. As I'm turning around, a body crashes into me and embraces me.
Adrian: "What about your sister?"
Lily: "Trust me; she is completely fine with it"
She says as we both turn and look over to the house window and see her intently watching us.
Adrian: "I think we have a fan."
Lily: "I think we do."
I could feel her chuckle against me which sends me over the edge. So, I move a piece of her hair behind her ear and I put my hands on the sides of her face and pressed a soft kiss to her lips. I have kissed many girls but this was different. She was different and I knew this since the second I saw her on that airplane. Her hands disappear into my hair as she pulls me in closer. Lily is going to be the death of me, I know it.
The next day I take her out to dinner and it probably took us around an hour to choose where to go because she might be the pickiest person I know. I honestly can eat anything that's out there but I don't mind a challenge. I want to know everything she likes and what she doesn't like. I already know her favorite food is pasta and her least favorite is anything seafood related. Every time she sees me eat pork or like cow tongue, I know to expect a whole soliloquy, which makes me laugh because if it weren't for her obsession with meat I would think she would be a vegetarian.
She's the complete opposite with movies. She can watch whatever kind of movie there is out there but if it's an old movie she tends to always fall asleep before it even starts to get good. I know she's starting to get tired when she places her thumb nail on her bottom lip and her index finger on top of it. Lily never likes to admit she's tired, which isn't often, but everyone gets tired at some point. She is so full of energy and it's what I've been missing in my life.
After arriving at her house, I pull her into my arms and inhale her beautiful beach scent. She always smells like fresh ocean water and beach sand. I can feel her every breath on my chest and I can't help but smile. These past few weeks have been amazing because of her. I'm going to take her to meet my parent's tomorrow and for some reason it scares me to death. What if they don't accept her? Well, they can't say or do anything that will stop me from being with her.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's raining really hard as we drive to my parents' house. Please God, don't let this be a stupid sign.
Adrian: "Stop fidgeting, they're going to love you."
I should listen to my own advice. They will.
Lily: "But what if they don't?"
Adrian: "They will, just be yourself and don't let anything they say get to you."
Lily: "What do you mean, what will they say to me? I don't know about this, I don't fit into your lifestyle, your rich parents, your perfect life. I barely have enough money to secure my own life."
Adrian: "Lily!"
Lily: "I can't, I can't do this."
She starts to take off her seatbelt and tries to open the door as I start slowing down the car. She's out of the car in an instant and so am I.
Adrian: "Lily! Stop!"
She keeps running away from me, cars are passing by and it's starting to rain harder. I don't know what's going on with her.
Adrian: "Lily, Please!"
Now I'm begging. She stops and I wrap my arms around her into a tight hug while she cries into my shoulder.
Adrian: "Breathe."
Lily: "I'm sorry."
Adrian: "Sorry for what?"
Lily: "I can't do this to you."
Adrian: "Do what to me, Lily?"
Lily: "Nothing."
She turns around and starts walking back to the car, while I stay standing there in the rain.
Adrian: "Lily, please talk to me. Don't leave. I love you Lily!"
Did I just say that out loud? I know it's true, I just have never said it to her.
And by the way she stops; she's as shocked as I am.
Lily: "What did you say?"
Adrian: "I...I love you Lily. I don't know if you feel the same way but you make me the happiest person in the world. You make me smile, more than I have ever smiled before. I am not scared to be myself around you. This is me. I just can't believe you have stayed with me for so long. I don't understand how a girl as beautiful and funny as you, can be with a guy like me. You mean the world to me. Please don't ever leave me. I..."
She runs towards me and I catch her in my arms. She leans forward, presses her hands against my chest and kisses me. We stay there kissing in the rain, until she pulls away just enough to look into my eyes and say the best thing I could ever hear.
Lily: "I love you too"
We kiss again and she laughs and I don't blame her because right now my smile probably resembles a kids after telling them that they're going to Disney World.
Adrian: "Let's get you into the car before you get sick."
We get into the car and she looks at me with those beautiful brown eyes.
Lily: "Say it again."
I grab her hand in mine and say "I love you Lily Cristine Walker" and she smiles the biggest smile I've ever seen her make.
